The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

No, you're not the only one. But I definitely disagree. Jack's Joker was like watching your insane uncle try to be scary and fail ultimately. Heath's Joker was way more unpredictable with his methods because there was no indication on what he was going to do.

For example the fake Batman video. When he yells 'LOOK AT ME!" that was very, very unpredictable and caught me off guard.

I agree with that but the "little" things that Jack-Joker did made him more "unpredictable" to me. i.e. shooting Bob point blank, shooting Bruce in Vicki's apartment etc.

I definately agree that Heath's was more frightening and far more creepy, however I feel that Jack's was more "random".

^ Like that "Super Gun" he pulled on Bats. Yah Honeslty what just as like out of no where.

Plus, as I said earlier, another thing working against Jack's Joker was the origin story. The Joker always works best without an origin story.

Btw, could someone please give me any pics they may have of the Joker from the 1940's? It could be dialogue or him fighting Batman (I'd really prefer the latter but anything would be nice).

Am I the only one to think that Jacks Joker was more "unpredictable" than Heaths?

In that he had stupid props and gag weapons. It's amazing that he did such good work when the script was so poor.
But even Burton, for all his craziness, should have known when to make things a bit more beievable. Like the "giant gun that shoots down the Batjet" scene. Now, imagine if Jack had a machine gun or a bazooka and played the scene completely serious.
Suddenly it's not so silly.
Well, that's what defines Nicholson in Batman '89 for me, nothing but lots of wasted potential. An actor at the top of his game and what it boils down to is chattering teeth, mimes and a stupid prosthetic.

lol i just hate everything about the 60s-70s batman series. when i was younger i found it hilarious but watching it now actually makes me want to be sick.

It's just bad. I respect the fact that it was actually about Batman's universe unlike The Incredible Hulk, but other than that it's a joke. At least you have some things like The Toxic Avenger (which is a fairly good film disguised as a bad one) or movies so bad they're good. The Batman TV series was so bad it was horrible.

Agreed.

I'd love to see more Hamil Joker in maybe another animated movie or something.

That's a shame really, because, along with 1989 and the here and now, it marks one of the periods during which Batman had a massive bearing on the public perception, and a huge fan base.

I can accept the old 1960s series for what it is; a lighthearted and jaunty echo of the themes within the comics at the time. Some of the performances remain very strong- there is little likelihood that The Penguin would have remained an A list rogue, appearing as the priciple antagoinist in a movie over 20 years later, if it was not for Burgess Meredith, for example.

oh yea i'm not doubting the talents of the actors involved. nor am i denying that at that time it was quite accurate to the comics. i also understand what it has done for the Batman name as a whole. It's just not my cup of tea, i prefer things gritty and grimey. The Wire is like one of my favourite shows ever, thats why i love TDK so much, not just because its batman but because it really reminded me of the wire.

Wow so much hate for the adam west series, a sad moment in Batman history.

People don't like the 60's Batman TV show!? Blasphemy! I say we ban them, I say we ban them all!!!

i'm a hardcore batman fan but i'm not a fan of the 60s show. i prefer batman at his gritty grimey best.

That's one of the weirdest things I've ever heard...afterall, the '60's show really sucked and wasn't Batman like at all.
I agree, the only reason I remotely "like" it is because it is "Batman". :o

I don't like it at all, truthfully.

I do, however, like TAS, which was damn awesome...wish they'd do another Batman carton like that.
