The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

i'm sure it's been discussed, just wanted to double check..

he'll obviously be in the movie game..

did he finish any ADR (Additional Dialogue Required) for Promotional material or the game..?

i remember seeing somewhere he was completely and totally finished with all aspects of the film and franchise (except for a possible sequel)..

and if he didn't do any of that, will they use movie dialogue only or a mix with another voice actor..?

obviously, i don't expect anyone to KNOW for sure, but some conversation about it wouldn't hurt to see what people think/know/have heard..

Yeh, he didn't finish . . . but it's still his last role, just not his last complete role. They got others in to finish it for him - Depp is one, and I think Jude Law is another.

Wasn't it stated that he did not finish filming due to his passing?

Yes, but they're not cutting out his scenes and re-filming them with a new actor.

Instead they're using a couple different actors to play that same character in other scenes as he time travels or something.

He's supposed to be going into other worlds or dimensions or something from what I read in the past.

Whats everyone thinking in regards to the amount of screen time Heaths Joker will get?, will his death mean he gets more/less than originally planned?
Im wondering which route Nolan will take on it?, hopefully it wont be a B89 situation where its basically "The Joker:The Movie - co-starring Michael Keaton as Batman", but then again i wouldnt like a Spider-man 2 situation where the awesome Alfred Molina was only given some 20-odd minutes of screen time!!??

Thoughts?

I think this has been addressed somewhere in multiple threads, but the general consensus seems to be that the Joker's role in this movie is far less than the previews lead on. According to Nolan this is Harvey's movie with the Joker just kinda doing his thing in the background.

So I'm gonna say he won't have a TON of screentime, but is certainly capable of stealing the show, in the same way Jack Nicholson did in 1989.

The Joker isn't the main character, and Harvey Dent will have atleast as much screentime.

I think this has been discussed in a few other threads numerous times before.

Let's just put it this way, Joker's role will be as big and necessary as it needs to be.

Probably a little more screen time than Crane/Scarecrow had in BB but not that much more.

Ah no. There's literally dozens of scenes he's in just basing it on the trailer. And of course they have a big showdown. Crane/Scarcrow was barely in the movie compared to what they're doing with Joker.

Interesting logic. A couple of 2 minute trailers incorporating a number of redundant scenes must by extension mean that the Joker is very prevalent throughout the film even though you have yet to see the film in its entirety.

Ah yeah I'm on the same page with you. He looks to be in just about every scene Batman is in save the garage scene. But we don't know till the 18th I guess.

The scenes really aren't that redundant though.

Bank heist.
Interrogation.
Street showdown.
Jail break.
Party.
Barges.
Filmed message.

That we know of for sure.

I doubt the Joker trails him to Hong Kong. Just saying.

Also does anybody else remember the rumor that the Joker was going to have such a small part that Sam Rockwell said he wasn't interested in the role anymore? Ahh, memories...

Don't be silly.

People seem to be hooked on the idea that a villain is not allowed to have a lot of screen time, for whatever reason. Simply not the case. The Joker can have at least a quarter of the screen time; a 2.5 hour film is a hell of a long time, you know. Much like Star Wars, this film is as much about the hero as it is the villain, IMO. The entire movie has been marketed around the Joker character -- giving him little under ten minutes of screen-time would be a joke, ironically enough.

I don't see how that's silly. Maybe if the film was out and my remark was hyperbole then the comment can be valid. But until then does anyone know anything for certainty?

Nolan remarked that the Joker will come in and out of the story like Jaws. He'll be a powerful character no doubt, but a character that has a lot of screen time? Only July 18 will bring that answer.

You saw barges in the trailer? Could you point out what time b/c I think I missed that part.

Ah I forgot that one. No you're right.

Don't be a smartass. I didn't say all of that was from the trailer I said we knew he was in those scenes.

You claimed there were barges bro. I just want to know where you saw them b/c I think I missed it when I watched the trailers over a 100 times.
