The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

So by this logic pretty well every single comic book movie to date should have "Elseworld" in its title?

Hmmmm....shouldn't it just be common sense?
No

Common sense would dictate that you don't drastically change a character's appearence when it's been virtually unchanged for the last 65+ years.

I'm sick of this artistic licensing that Nolan's getting away with the Joker

i don't know why people have to pick sides.

BOTH BURTON AND NOLAN RULE.

Well, I don't really like Burton, but I love BR. But come on, picking sides has been a trend forever. Hard to give it up.

The same elements are there. Don't try to over exaggerate and claim differences in artist styles. I outlined the differences that shouldn't be there.

you could say the same thing about heath's joker . he still has the white skin , the red lips , the green hair , the purple suit , etc . but OH NOES !! H3 1Z N0T TEH PERMA WHITEZRZ !!!! H3 H4Z T3H CUT SM1ILEZ !!!! how dare they ? they have ruined everything !!! it's the end of the world !!! :wow:

In my opinion keeping the joker EXACTLY the same like he has been for the past 65+ years would be boring.

I don't think I'd be as excited if it was another flamboyant, bleach white, grinning clown.

I think this is a healthy change for a classic character.

Besides, isn't it what's on the inside that counts?

Umm...we were talking about using Elseworld were we not? Why did you just turn this into a Nolan bashing post?

Way to detract from the conversation. :o

I agree with you as well.

Jesus christ, just stop *****ing. I'm just happy that the joker isn't over weight like jacks. I say Heath's joker is as best as your gonna get so stop mocking his work. If your unhappy then don't see the movie, other then that stop complaining and enjoy the movie!
Just be thankful he looks NOTHING like the joker in The Batman series (the recent animated one thats on KidsWB).
Anything is better then that. >.>

speaking of that, what happened? How can you screw the joker up this bad?

Saying I'm sick of Nolans Artistic Licensing is far from bashing him, now ain't it Chief.

This is a thread to discuss the Joker and I'm sorry that I have a different opinion that you, but I do. If you want a love feast, go over to the Ledgerbration thread.

Troll

Just as bad as Ledger's, I'm afraid

seems like someone has a vendetta against the man. :whatever:
Maybe it isn't so much as Nolan's joker, maybe it's the fact that it's the man behind the make-up, Heath?

but hey I'm just going around what I've been reading..
all I say is just give the person a chance like we gave Bale.
Remember (well for me I do on other forums..) that people were complaining that he wasn't as going to be as good as Keaton (sorry if i spelt the name wrong)?
People love him now! :-)
but that's beside the point (I don't however like his batman voice..),
don't judge a book by it's cover.
and when the movie is out and you still don't like what you saw, that's fine, at least you gave him a chance and saw one of his final works.

With all that being said, I'm out. :hoboj:

My apologies for using bashing. Sorry if it offended you.

But I am far from troll. You were the one who brought up the Elseword topic, and when I called you out on it, you completely changed the subject. Then you go and call me a troll. As far as I can tell, I never said anything against your opinion of Ledger or the Joker...yet you claim I should stop harassing you about your Joker opinion and go to the Ledgerbration thread.

I'm not sure I understand you at the moment.

Lol, are people STILL bashing Ledger as Joker, even after the 10000000 clips we've seen of him? meh, people go to such lengths to seem hip and different.

From what I saw of the last page, it was the distaste in Ledger's look as Joker, rather than his performance in the actual role.

I don't think anyone would be stupid to bash him to come off as cool.

Oh ok sorry, now i have egg on my face. :csad:

The only reason I'm still gonna see this movie and love it is because all the story elements and characterizations are SPOT ON with nary a beat missing (much like Batman Begins), but that doesn't excuse the changes to Joker's appearance (which, when talking comic books is VERY important) and the whole guns on the 'pod thing.

To some, these are small, to those of us who know Batman inside out, it's keeping it a considerable hop and a skip from being the definitive Batman movie.

From this pic we can clearly see

Ledger's Joker appearence wise

1. He got the extended gin line on his face like Cesar Romero
2. He got the dark circles on his eyes like Mark Hamill's version from Batman:The Animated Series
3. His hair is similar to Jack Nicholson
