Their leader was an absolute Joke (No pun intended)

I love When Bruce kicks their ass with his cane in "Rebirth" part -1

*laughs at all the people who can't see the idiocy of saying Depp is a bad actor*

Seriously. The man went from this -

- and so on. Listen, it's okay if you don't want him replacing Ledger. I get that. But really, stop this. You're killing brain-cells.

Costumes =/= versatile acting

In the past weeks its because something of a fad to push Depp for the Joker role. Not sure why, but whatever. For Depp it would be another cooky eccentric, eh.

great roles. doesn't change the fact that he's inescapably Johnny depp. I'm sick of this recasting talk. Hopefully once the movie comes out we'll be discussing the role already played instead of one that might someday (never) be.

While I'm certainly looking forward to talking about having seen TDK, (Wow, I'll really be seeing TDK in a matter of hours...Wow) I don't buy into the line about talk of recasting is disrespect. Not that your saying that, but I hear it a lot.

Anyone who says Johnny Depp is a bad actor doesn't know what acting is.

Depp's a fine actor. Even then, he has no place in this thread. We have a sequel forum for people who want to speculate on recasting...take the whole argument there and leave this thread for the fans who want to talk about this film's Joker. We get you liked Pirates. We know you feel the need to e-defend Johnny's good name. But geez Louise, take it someplace else. Cpt. Jack Sparrow has nothing to do with the Joker besides general surliness and a penchant for theatrics.

hes a great actor. so is christopher walken. one thing in nolan's run I don't want to see is someone you'd expect to play a villain play one. Tom Wilkinson, Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson, Heath Ledger? I want them to keep track with that. Imagine adding Johnny Depp to that list. I just don't see it working. I know Depp takes his roles seriously, but its just my problem as a moviegoer (Fear and Loathing and Deadman are some of my most favorite films) with Depp now.

I like seeing him in pseudo-B minimal psychological thrillers like Ninth Gate and Secret Window and in big roles like sparrow but now hes attained a level of notoriety that would, despite the actor's efforts (IMO), inevitably show through the performance. (Like Walken or Samuel L. Jackson) I don't think I'll be able to forget that its Depp playing a role for a long while now. It'll take the proper role to do that for me, something much more subtle like Leo's switch to things like the Departed from cheesefests like the titanic.
All of that combined with Ledger's iconic performance. Not as a matter of disrespect but having to fill shoes filled not like a few decades back like Jack, but only a few years. It'd be hard to push that Joker out of people's minds (regardless of Heath's death or if he had lived and not returned to the role) and for me to fully BUY the new joker.

I'll Ok depp as any other villain but the Joker, and its only because of the way the franchise has turned out since.

I dont think anyone is saying he's a bad actor, Im certainly not. But some people are comparing him to Daniel Day Lewis!!!!! Not even close. As far as movie stars go, Depp is very charasmatic and fun to watch on screen and as he gets older Im sure he will continue to grow and evolve as an actor. You have to earn the right to be called great, its an overused word in all mediums, and Depp in my eyes is not there yet.

'Depp for Joker' is also something that I think most people who dont really care would say, its just a really obvious and easy thing to suggest. NO re-cast! There are other ways to feel Jokers influence without seeing him, just seeing a doctor or two talking with Gordon outside of Jokers cell would be awesome, just knowing whats in there!!

well i know i said some things, im not saying he's a bad actor, i just think his recent works have been very poor for his capability and he needs to step up his game

i think batman beyond...

thats what i thought,thanks

Daniel Day Lewis Will be the Next Joker

You'll see

eh as much as i was leaning towards it i don like a recast now. though if thee we i would want him. he's a terrific actor and he had much respect for heath so i know he'd do it well

I think DDL is just about the only big name actor working today that would give me reason to look forward to a re-cast with hope and excitement.

I just think he is incredibly overexposed. Not knocking his talent, but I'm sure there is someone out there thats better for some of these roles, the guy is a little too old for alot of these parts now. It comes across more so that fans lack the imagination and foresight to picture any other actors in these roles.

Then again, thats why Heath was such a surprise when cast. He wasn't a Johnny Depp/ Daniel day Lewis/ Sam Jackson type.

I don't think he'd do it without Burton, and we've been there.

He might have to wait another 20 yrs. If Ledger is better than Nicholson then they won't think of a recast for at least another 20 yrs. I'd sooner see them have another go at Catwoman. Nolan and co say how much they love the long Halloween and other works in that vein well Catwoman is a crucial point. I mean she's realist, we're asked to believe in Bale as Batman. Why can't a woman be believable as Catwoman? She is Wayne's equal and a
replacement for Rachel Dawes now that she's dead.

Bringing age into the question is stupid. I'm against recasting, but to bring up the age thing is just stupid. He looks no older than Heath Ledger did.

QFT. The guy's a great actor, but I preferred him in his earlier movies because it seems like he put a lot more effort into them for some reason. And he's become incredibly overrated in recent years with all the buzz from the Pirate films. Can't see Nolan ever choosing him to be the Joker. Pretty sure he'd pick someone that's not as well known. Though personally, I hope they don't recast unless Joker was going to be essential to the storyline of the third movie.

I could see Sam Rockwell playing a convincing Joker.

P.S. Is it wrong for me to be quite attracted to Heath's Joker? :(
