The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

The Joker kills his henchmen because that's the "joke", not just because of the money. Acquiring the money was a means to an end, and enabled him to get the mob's attention, and keep that attention. That was also part of the joke, as in the end, he obviously didn't care about money.

There is no explaining the Joker. He does what he wants, when he wants, the way he wants. He's a sporadic event. If you try to put logic to EVERYTHING he does, you might end up as crazy as him.

RIP Heath. :(

Next the Joker decides to take Harvey Dent under his wing and show him the light by teaching him to be spontaneous and not a schemer. Harvey Dent was simply a district attorney trying to clean up the streets of Gotham and taking it one day at a time. Joker teaches him to be spontaneous with such a long drawn out and complicated plan, that everyone involved knowingly or not has to act precisely to his plans with little to no room for error.
I think he makes his plans fit to whatever happens, that's why everything goes according to his plans.

is this it?

I would believe so. Thank you.

^^^ I'm glad they toned down the cut smile. I'm also glad we got something completely different than Captain Vidal in Pan's labyrinth or that dude in Ichi the killer.

Best creepy clown ever. Captain Spaulding, Pennywise or even Lon Chaney Sr in "laugh, clown, laugh", we hardly knew ye.:woot:

id love for josh brolin and heath ledger to get oscar noms, joker vs bush is just funny to me.

If Brolin is to be nominated it wouldn't be up against Ledger. Ledger will fall into the "supporting" category whereas Brolin would be in best actor.

I hope Downey gets a best supporting actor nomination for Tropic Thunder ("I'm a lead farmer, motherf****r ": best line of the year, second only to "how about a magic trick ?") and I also hope Heath wins cause he really deserves it.

I didn't really like any of the concept art in the screenplay book nearly as much as what they ended up with; that picture above looks too much like Michael Myers. I could really see in the various sketches that they wanted to work with the punk/teddyboy look rather than the conventional sort of Edwardian/zoot suit often associated with the character in the comics (though the Teddy Boys in their stovepipe trousers and velvet collared blazers did derive a lot of their look from the Edwardians: the punks ripped up and deconstructed the look).

Polishing up the crystal ball: Ledger will be nominated for, and win, the supporting actor award. No one else in TDK will get an acting nomination (which is kind of too bad, there were some good subtle performances as well). The film probably will get other nominations, and will win other awards: the number and type will depend a lot on the next couple of months. The most poignant irony is that Michelle Williams has received some speculation re: a best actress nod for Wendy and Lucy.

I was watching Dr Jekyll, the silent one with John Barrymore and thought that there was a lot of Heath Joker in that Mr Hyde.
Heath created a very original modern character but I don't think he would have felt out of place as a classic monster in an old silent black and white horror film. I love that you can see a lot of influences in Heath work but in the end it is a very rare and unique creation.

Hey, what did you guys think of the "LOOK AT ME?" line in TDK. I think I came up with a theory just from hearing it again. I want to see what you guys think encase you already thought about it.

I always thought the LOOK AT ME line sounded like the fear toxin voice from BB.
