Well I was listening to his speech. Do you think Batman made this a better place? Look at me. I saw it in a completely different way. It seems like LOOK AT WHAT HE DID TO ME. LOOK AT WHAT THIS BATMAN DID.

I think there is some pain like, in his little crusade he did this to me. You call that better?! That is the vibe I'm getting so I am thinking Batman might have played a part into his scars or something.

i think he means look at him, as in - joker exists because batman does. batman is like an extreme good guy, so now there are extreme bad guys to combat him like the joker, escalation, etc

but yea i would love to know the jokers origin..who knows.

Thats why I never thought of it as him other then having Brian look at him. However think about it. He was a symbol to inspire hope(batman). oh ya look what he did to me? LOOK AT ME! I think that it might be a hint to his origin.

I don't think he's in pain. He just needs to be the centre of attention. Notice how he says that a lot: "Look at me" or "Come here".
It's all about controlling people, he has to call the shots. Plus, he was genuinely angry with the Bat-fake.

That's what they do. Some people kill lice, some people overanalyze movies.

Yup. The theory might have some validity if Joker's first "Look at me" wasn't so calmly delivered. But it didn't. He plainly states "look at me" like any normal person would. And gets no response. The only subtle hint here into Joker's psyche is his craving for attention and respect.

Brian refusing to look at him, thereby showing disinterest and respect, is an insult to Joker. Hence the repeating of his command, this time in a more forceful and shocking manner. Once he gets it, he starts to calm down and goes back to his playful mood. Notice how as Brian looks, there's that awkward pause. Seemingly Joker is assessing the situation and gaining his composure.

haha the head tilt!! yea i remember you talking about that. it's funny that it turns out throughout the whole movie there was a theme of dogs, thats how i look at the little head tilt now, like he is a dog interested in someone shot in the gut!
