Days of Future Past The Mark MILLAR Official Thread

Isn't Millar like Fox's version of Joss Whedon now, overseeing all of their projects? An X-Men/FF crossover could be awesome. I really want to see Franklin and Valeria Richards onscreen and them interacting with the X-Men could be fun. Doctor Doom versus Magneto would be epic.

Either way the guy still talks out of his ass, better to take whatever he says with a grain of salt.

He's being vague on the whole subject. So I don't get why you are all sketched on what he is saying. He was pretty much brought in to help them create an X shared Universe. Some of you wouldnt believe the guy even if he got the Writer/Director of Kick-Ass 2 to helm the new X-Men film. :o

He's been saying they have had conversations of up to 10 films since the first page of this thread. And the first flicks he mentioned were X-Force, Cable and Deadpool. Now Fox seems to be moving forward with an X-Force film...

Will this be a whole different cast to FC and OT or could it involve these characters!? I'd rather have a movie with OT

It's probably the NDA that's preventing him to boast about whatever it is that he's being vague about.

Besides, since him and Singer only really started talking after DOFP was well into production, he most likely didn't have much say into how this film would shape up. Which is for the best.

Huh? What does that even mean? I would guess and hope that Singer would have more say (and first dibs!) in who will be directing the new X-men film following DOFP.

who says singer has anything to do with X-force?, he had nothing to do with the wolverine

The big thing he's talking about has to be Age of Apocalypse.

Jeff Wadlow interview. Talks a lil about Millars role some more.

Basically when they hired Mark [Millar] to oversee their Marvel properties, he started talking about some characters they were thinking about doing solo films with – that could maybe then lead to a team movie - sort of following the Marvel/’Avengers’ model. And I said, ‘Wait, wait, wait, that’s not what’s cool about X-Men! Marvel’s doing individuals who become a team; this should be about, like, other teams, and I want to make an ‘X-Force’ movie, and this is how I would do it.’ And I pitched him the idea, he got real excited and gave me some great notes that I incorporated, we took it into the studio, I pitched them, they loved it and they said ‘Let’s do it.’

You said new X-men film. I took that to mean: new X-men film, not X-force or any other spin-offs.

The next film is probably gonna be X-force, cable, deadpool ect ect

New team movie

Millar normally talks out of his ass. But given his new position, I'm inclined to believe him more in THIS CASE.

I said that. My bad for the confusion. Was being somewhat sarcastic as well. X-Force is still X-Men, but probably should have put X-Men franchise.

No worries man. Glad that was cleared up :)

It will be interesting if Singer stays on as Director for the main films or if he leaves after DOFP.

Yeah, cool thing is they can use The Wolverine/DOFP pattern here. Have someone direct the new main X-Men team while X-Force shoots a year ahead by a different director..

Thank god Wadlow is there. Millar would have ruined them by himself. Wadlow gets that the X-Men are about teams, not individual characters. There's really no individual X-Men who could carry their own films other than Wolverine and Deadpool (Deadpool isn't an X-Men but you get the point). They weren't made to be solo characters.

Agreed. Deadpool and Wolverine are pretty much the only ones who should have solos.

Psylocke could carry her own film. X-23 could as well (sort of like an NYX type movie). Even Gambit could conceivably carry his own movie. Also, Wolverine, Cable, Deadpool, Domino, Psylocke, and Colossus as the XF team, I like that lineup quite a bit.

So, Fox originally wanted to completely rip off Marvel? Why am I not surprised?

I wonder which characters were on their radar.

Would love to hear one of those reunions, lol. Would be really exciting, even if they dont make them ever.

Since Wadlow is a Deadpool and X-Force fan. I'm thinking it was separate movies for Cable and Deadpool. We know there was one for Deadpool already. He could have possibly thought it would work better with them both in the same film with the other ass kickers in the Xverse. Which honestly will end up being more marketable for both characters. 5 X-Men will sell better then 1.

Wadlow is right, X-men should mainly be team stories. You got guys like Wolverine, Cable, and Deadpool who could do solo movies, but overall X-men teaming up is what made me a fan of the series. Although it should be a little more hard to completely explore each and every character in a team movie without a solo movie first, so Fox has a lot in their hands in terms of planing all these future X-men, X-Force, and Fantastic Four movies. They should definitely split the characters up between X-force and X-Men in order to give the characters more room to breathe IMO.

My Ideal line-ups

X-Force

Wolverine
DeadPool
Cable
Domino
Psylocke
Colossus

X-Men

Cyclops
Jean Grey
Storm
Beast
Rogue
Kitty
Gambit
Bishop
Iceman

IMO, they should just stick with 1 cast for the moment, and maybe after 3 big films with the OT cast, they could go back releasing spin-offs.

They should ride the success of DOFP, with releasing films with the modern-day cast of DOFP, not by making spin-off movies which would only feature 1 to 3 characters from DOFP.
