The New New Avengers

All we know is that Avengers will feature the main headliners of the Avengers franchise. We don't know anything about Secret Avengers or New Avengers' directions.

You knwo damn well what New New avengers will be about.

I'm mildly interested in who the rest of this team turns out to be...

Holy ***** Marvel, O-V-E-R-K-I-L-L!

Bendis DOES NOT need to take on another book, he needs to cut back. I don't know if I'll have the scratch for all of this stuff. SIEGE is kickin my ass right now.

I thought the whole point was to have just one Avengers team/book after Siege?

I am officially disappoint.

If these new New Avengers are primarily a street level team, I don't have much of a problem with this. Otherwise, this is pretty unnecessary. Hell, it's probably unnecessary anyways. 10 bucks says Luke Cage will be the "leader", because Bendis says so.

And here I thought Jeff Parker had successfully stolen Luke Cage from Bendis for THUNDERBOLTS. It just turns out that Cage will be in two team books at once, like Wolverine.

Basically, "THE AVENGERS" are basically just the "NEW AVENGERS" from 2004, only with Sentry swapped for Thor. I'm honestly not terribly surprised.

Well, we know we can expect this team to fight The Hood and his gang of ninjas every issue. :awesome:

Hey, if it frees the not-new Avengers up to fight Avengers-worthy threats, I'm all for it. Although, if "Ultron with boobs" is still Bendis' idea of a classic Avengers-level threat, I may have to rethink that stance...

At least the NNA are going to fight Kang in their first outing.

I hate how marvel feels the need to oversaturate everything. I wish for once they'd show restraint and condense their titles a little bit. I'm already dreading next year where Marvel will surely put out at least 2 more Captain America and Thor ongoings just to coincide with the movies. *shivers*

Yeah, starting off with 4 new Avenger titles off the bat seems a bit much to me. I'm all for franchises, but ease into them a bit, for crying out loud.

Except we currently have 4 Avengers title now, so Marvel knows the marketplace works for them. I was just hoping it'd be Avengers (Bendis), Secret Avengers (Brubaker), Young Avengers (Uhhh...Iunno, cause it sure as hell wouldn't be Allan), and Avengers Academy (Slott/Gage).

For the first arc the Avengers will face Kang.........with GOUT.

I have a feeling Cage will be going down the path of Wolverine & DP soon.'

Bendis better not f*** up anything that happens in that awesome looking new Thunderbolts book.

I have said it in the past, and I try not to offend anyone by saying it, but did any of you actually buy that load that there was only going to be one streamlined Avengers book? You thought they were just going to cut away the most successful current franchise they have to just one book when the books still sell top of the charts? What, just because Joey Q or Bendis or who-have-you said as much? These people are liars. Hell, I guess you could argue that's part of some of their jobs. To lie for the sake of hype, to lie for the sake of interest, to lie for the sake of product, etc.

I thought it was just a given that when management or creative makes a claim to always, always take it with enough salt to choke a goat. It's just what they do.

But why would they even bother to say that there would be ONE Avengers book then? Why not just say "After Siege, we're still going to have multiple avengers books and teams."? What do they gain by telling people "We're just going to have one avengers book."?

Did it hype you up that there would be one Avengers book with the big three when you first heard the announcement? It probably did, like it did a lot of people. There's your answer.

They actually said there would only be one book? I never saw that...not that I read every article/interview that's out there.

Well yeah it hyped me up, but as far as marvel's concerned, people love the multiple books, it seems like it would have wiser to be upfront about it in the first place and reassure people that there will be multiple books.

Because you get less hype and less interested people when you tell them, 'Well, it's all the same deal, you know.' When you tell them, 'Guess what, we're streamlining the Avengers books and the BIG 3 ARE COMING BACK BABY!', you get people talking. It worked like a charm, still is working like a charm, because we're still taking about it. It's all part of the business. Get the buzz going, get it in people's minds, lie or bend the truth as much as possible if you have to, just do it.

Here's the original article from CBR:

Even they speculated that Marvel wouldn't replace 4 Avengers books with just one. But c'mon another title called "New Avengers" is silly.

Is that the best they could come up with? At least the X-Men teams call themselves different things like X-Factor or X-Force even though they're all under the same umbrella.
