The New New Avengers

I hope it continues after that Hawkeye mini. The sales really aren't there to justify it, though. :csad:

Hopefully Marvel will slide Hawkeye over to the New Avengers roster full time with Bobbi and let McCann take over the book from Bendis.

Hahaha!

No, yeah, that would be great. Who knows, it might even happen!

:lmao:

I liked the issue. Anyone notice the Marty McFly cameo, it was the guy saying his done with New York after the Doombot craft crash.

Cage and his Power Woman :)

Yes,..
I liked all but one thing,...

"Booyah?"

REALLY LUKE - BOO - YAH?????

Besides that I'm thinking Mavel needs to up Mrs. Cages stats,.. Pretty sure it takes more than benching ten tons to pinch off a firehydrant to use as a club.

Well I'm part of the minority who'd like to see Powerman and Powerwoman,.. I'm thinking she'd look spiffy in a yellow silk blouse, black skintight pants with yellow boots, chain and tiara.

Of course add gloves so she can save her nails,.....

Meh,... we'll never see that.

The rest of the issue was funny,.. Bendis got jokes. From the wannabe groupies and Jessica Saving Luke from a life of going from skank to skank,.. to Ben Grimm stepping up and giving a tutorial on Doombots.

Issue 8 and I STILL LIKE THE NEW AVENGERS better than the other three titles,.. something must be wrong with me.

:word:

Issue 8 was a classic Bendis disaster but I agree partly with Varient and JH. NNA is the best Avengers book outside of Academy. 7 straight well done issues by Bendis...? He was WAY overdue for a big hiccup. I'm gonna look past it towards the next arc which looks partly interesting. My one concern is Bendis plans on "filling in the blanks" regarding Fury's (extensive) history. That could get ridiculous......and fast. Remember Bucky's confession that he killed Hitler anyone? GOOD, let's keep it that way.

Issue 8 WAS the worst of the bunch but I still enjoyed it more than the newest issue of Academy. I just don't really see the appeal for that book that other people have. Yeah, I like some of the characters, but there's just not much there for me.

Prime was a damn fine big three story all the way through to the end, so I guess something's a little bit wrong with me too. Or maybe Bendis is finally figuring out how to write these characters well. After only 6 years.

I never read Prime but I'm turned off by the idea of Steve going after some elf chick or something.

It was a slight blemish. The only thing redeeming it was she reminded him of Wanda and they had a brief (possibly hallucinated) affair prior to her going nuts in Disassembled.

Well that's not so bad then. I'll have to check it out someday, maybe if I find it cheap at Half Priced Books.

I still think the plot for Prime would have been better if it was used as the first Avengers arc instead of that Kang/Maestro mess.

Yeah, especially since the big reconciliation between the big three didn't have much substance. Steve and Tony argue at the beginning, Thor tells them off, and then they all focus on this big crisis in Asgard for the rest of it. There's a very brief mention toward the end that they're glad to be by each other's side or some junk. Thor is once again left mostly out of it, though, since Bendis decided to focus more on Tony and Steve's Civil War issues. I guess Thor got all the catharsis he needed by kicking Tony's ass and being a dick to him for the first few months after he returned from the dead.

But yeah, they could've added a few other Avengers into it, kept the plot largely the same, and cut out Steve kissing the elf chick. I'd totally be into Bendis' Avengers series after an opening arc like that.

Spider-Man, Hawkeye and Bucky could have easily sprinkled in the mix while the rest of the team tried to figure out how to bring the group back home. You could have paired each person up with the 3, like Peter/Tony, Clint/Thor, and Bucky/Steve. It would have been pretty cool.

I'd go Bucky/Thor and Clint/Steve, personally. That'd be way better than Thor treating Bucky like a total stranger in Avengers, and it's always fun to have Clint and Steve play off each other.

Either way it would work. We still haven't had a TRUE Bucky/Steve team up yet....

.....I think Bucky and Steve have interacted quite a bit. Was Reborn, Siege, and this current and last arc in Captain America not good enough?

I honestly want to see Bucky and Spiderman team up or something. They've done a good job at not having Bucky be the guy Steve left to suit while he was on break. I honestly can't see Steve Rogers as a functional Captain America anymore. He's too damn old.

I'm not counting interactions. Sure they "interacted" in Cap Reborn, SIEGE and several Cap stories. I'm talking about the just the 2 of them teaming up by themselves to take on a villain without any support. Hypothetically, the way everyone was separated in Prime, it would have been the perfect opportunity for something like that.

He's still in his physical prime.
