The New New Avengers

Wolverine's X-men costume has an A on it...he gets confused sometimes

Maybe Bendis thought it's best to have Avengers receive Thor/Cap/Iron Man and the 2nd team has the trio of Cage, Wolverine and Spidey?

Maybe Friday's teaser is Batman? That would sure scare me. lol

Doubt it, unless the book splits into two in June. Wolvie & Spidey will be on both.

Wasn't there an article Bendis did that said the roster of Avengers wasn't set in stone until issue 2?

Actually, I'm starting to wonder if Friday's reveal will end up being Marvelman. Just a thought really.

3 Avengers titles? Really? Is this really necessary?

Righhhhhht. Marvelman on a street level team. Only a writer who completely underutilizes a team's power sets would do something like.....uh.....who did you say was writing this again?

4 if you count Academy. It's no more than what we have right now dude.
I should have said core then, bc I dont count Iniative as it doesnt feature a team of Avengers. Dark was always meant to be a temporary thing with a specific purpose. They arent even real Avengers. I thought Siege was about consolidating things and unifying the teams. But with new New, it seems more of the same. It sounds rather redundant especially after the announcements of Avengers and Secret A

There's not much wrong with the number of titles as long as they all had a defined purpose
NA doesn't seem to have that.

I think it's going to be a street level team obviously, but why? Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Moon Knight take care of the majority of the street level threats in the Marvel universe by themselves.

That's my main problem as well. If the "big" Avengers are back and occupying the Avengers series, New Avengers seems to have literally no purpose whatsoever other than allowing Bendis to keep writing his pet characters under the Avengers banner.

I think Marvel is just scared to get rid of the actual "New Avengers' name because that book has been selling incredibly well for the past 6 years. Marvel thinks people are stupid and that if people dont see their "New Avengers" on the rack anymore then people will stop buying the books despite the fact that there will be an "Avengers" book. There has to be a book called "New Avengers" so people wont be confused. Thats pretty much it in a nutshell.

I doubt that. Most people who read New Avengers were Avengers fans before the fact that they started picking it up. Despite comic book movies popularity, there's not really been a huge insurgence of new readers, which is why Marvel and DC both try new gimmicks to get new readers attention.

Well none of them are "necessary", of course. It's really no different than having 3 X-Men titles. Or Batman having his billion books, Wolverine his billion books, etc.

Given the writer, you might be right. But the book isn't out yet so we don't know if it does or not.
