My favorite Final Fantasy game was IX. I'm really looking forward to FF III for the DS.

That fight went pretty well for me. I think I may have got myself around on the sphere grid by that point though. My characters were mighty spectacular by the end of the game. Particularly with their final weapons.

Same here, but I can't really find away around her mega death spell. It's killed me twice. I blew through it pretty fast last time I played too, so this is only adding to my anger.

If you're a zombie you won't be affected by Mega Death.

Well hey, I just learned something new. My love for FFX grows.

I love Final Fantasy. VII is the best by far, VIII is the worst.

People always seem to be divided between these two. They love one, and hate the other.

That's said, I love VIII, but VII is alright too. I just prefer VIII. Probably because it's where I started the series.

I started the series at VII, and loved it.....then I got VIII, and wasn't really that impressed. Then I got IX, which once again, I loved. I've also got the re-releases that they did for PS1, completed all of them, apart from I and II, which I never got round to doing.

I wasn't a big fan of IX. After VIII it felt like a big disappointment. I think I prefered the more adult nature of VIII. IX was quite kiddy in terms of character design etc. I wasn't much fond of it, though I do have a place in my heart for Vivi.

VII and VIII are great and I have many happy tiimes playing both of them.

What's everyone's favourite FF villians? Mine would have to be Sephiroth

Sin/Seymour. I liked how massive and symbolic he was, and I just found Seymour to be genuinely disturbing.

Golbez FTW!

Oh and about FF VII and VIII:

FF VIII is my favorite of the PS era FF games. All around though FFIV is still my favorite. VII was good, and IX was great, but the love story and back story of the characters was great, I just loved all the characters in that game. Rinoa was just such a cutie, and the ballroom dance scene was fantastic. Then the end just sealed the already great deal.

Second to that though is IX, then VII, when it came to the PS series. I Loathed X though. It was such a letdown for me.

I have high hopes for XII....oh and so we don't forget FF Tactics was awsome also.

Hmm... Dirge of Cerberus automatically saves the game for you. :(

VII & IX are similar in that they use the traditional FF character models and gameplay approach so maybe that is why you like those two and not VIII. VIII and X have a more realistic style.

I loved them all ... I am such a Big Final Fantasy Fan :o :o :o
The only FF game that i didn't played much is FF XI

I've not played XI either. XII and XIII look like they are going to have the technological advances that VII, VIII and X brought. I can't wait to play either.

Edea, for the portion where she was a bad guy at least. She was a fantastic villian.

I don't know why so many people don't like FFX. Auron is one of the best, most well-written characters to ever grace a Final Fantasy.:up:

I never liked Auron. I agree he was a well done character, but he really just isn't my back. The whole strong and silent thing bores me to tears. Luly won me over though. :p

FFX wasn't a bad game at all. I think FFX-2 might have tarnished it's reputation a little.

I wonder where XII & XIII will fit in on the ranking of classic FF games.

I'm still not sure what I'll think of XII, largely because of the combat system. I'm not entirely sure I'm going to like it. Hopefully I'll warm to it the more I play it, but I'm used to the traditional fight system that's gone before.

As for XIII, that's so far on the horizon I've no idea what to think. I still have half a year to wait until I get XII. :p

Do you know how the combat system works in XII? I've seen a few clips from which it seemed to look real time but I haven't kept up with developments.

It works more along the lines of the XI online combat system. It is real time. At any one time you can control one of the characters, but the others are controlled by the AI, albeit you can give them instructions on how to act.

Say for instance, you control Vaan, and you can set Ashe to stay back and use magic from a distance. You'll never have actual control over her, but she's following your instructions to some extent. It's all in real time I think.

I don't know a great deal about the system myself still. I guess it's something we'll have to experience before we fully understand it.

It sounds innovative.

Can you not switch control from the character you begin with?
