I found the film nothing more than decent, sadly.

Plot was servicable. I like that it was a much smaller scale threat and allowed the characters to interact and prepare. I thought the heist angle was fun to the point that I wish it was a bit more complex. The Avengers tie-in scene was obviously shoe-horned in but fun enough not to bother me. I like that Pym had Scott attempt to rob him to test his skills, but I don't get why Pym would opt to have Scott Lang escape from prison and become a fugitive rather than just drop the charges.

Thin villain again. What was supposed to have happened to Cross? He seemed like a straight forward resentful apprentice but toward the end there were references to him being messed up by the Pym particle... When and how? That was an unecessary addition in my opinion.

As for the cast, it was a mixed bag. Michael Douglas is Michael Douglas. No complaints there. I love Rudd but he felt too subdued in the role, and Evangeline Lily was annoying as Hope. I enjoyed the side-kick thieves despite T.I. being a terrible actor.

Think I came out of this feeling exactly as I feared I would: It wasn't a disaster, but it could have been gold if only Edgar Wright saw the project through.

Disappointing year for Marvel.

Ant-Man - (Est.) 450 to 500M WW

Couldn't even crack 2B with 2 movies with combined production budgets under 400M. Whether a movie is good or not is subjective, but most people liked both.

Terrible terrible film. Total *Flatline* for 2 hours. I dont see MCU lasting much longer.

There's only one MCU film I've seen only once in theaters
I probably saw Iron Man 5 or 6 times, The Incredible Hulk twice, Iron Man 2 something like 6/8 times, Thor 4 times, CATFA 3 times, The Avengers twice on opening day (stayed in the theater for the next showing) 6 times all in all, Iron Man 3 5 times, TTDW once, CATWS 5 times, GoTG twice, AOU 6 times (but I bought like 30 tickets for the film) and Ant-Man twice (so far).

Unlimited theaters subscriptions are a good thing let me tell you.

I honest to God have seen every MCU film over six times at the cinema and have paid to see each well over 20 times minimum. I'm a certified Marvel Zombie.

Ummmm.....I loved it, and so did my kids. Easily a top 5 MCU. We can't wait unt it comes out on DVD. It's not as good as GotG or the first Avengers, but it was easily one of their best.

That said...disappointing isn't unfair, if only because they rang the gong so loudly in 2014. Winter Soldier and Guardians were two of their best. Ultron and Ant-Man were good...but (maybe inevitably) didn't quite hit the same highs.

It is what it is. You're not going to shake heaven and earth every time. Me, I'm looking forward to the next entry. t:

This goes to show that nothing is really guaranteed to work, not even for Marvel. Other studios would kill to have a same track record as Marvel, but we've raised the bar so high that this year is considered disappointing to some people.

True dat. If you're going to compare 2015 to 2014, I can see saying that 2014 was better. GotG was my favorite period and TWS just kicked. That being said, I have Ant-Man a notch below GotG and TWS and Ultron pretty much neck and neck (I liked the development of the characters in AoU and recognize what a difficult task they had). So, I can see someone saying they were personally disappointed, but I doubt Marvel was disappointed in 2015. Maybe I misinterpreted what was written, but I don't know a studio in the world that wouldn't take the last 2 years of Marvel and be flat out giddy about it.

Well, the only people that matter are the people at Marvel. If they consider it a disappointment, it is. If not, it isn't.

Well said. I think 2015 was just as enjoyable as 2014, so I'm not complaining.

What I enjoyed about Ant-man was the new powers for MCU and the unique action...the microverse was cool and I also like how it wasn't end of the world scale

^^ Ant Mans powers are so cool, just imagine the places they can go with that. all they need is some clever writers to come up with more brilliant ways of doing the shrinking action sequences.

I did love how inventive the movie was with the powers, shrinking and fight scenes, really set it apart from the rest of the MCU and I actually think of the solo origin movies this one has the best action.
