Ant-Man The Official Ant-Man News and Speculation Thread - Part 9

He didn't really diss Ant-Man. Sure on surface level it seems that way but if you read his comments in context, you'll understand what he was trying to say. His wording was very poor.

Agreed. That said, he himself still has yet to make a movie I could enjoy, and I've seen all of them except Sucker Punch, the owl cartoon and that zombie remake(not interested in either subject so I skipped them). People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, even when they don't actually mean to do so.

He is just lucky he got to play with Batman and Superman, but that doesn't mean anything if he doesn't make a good film with them. For now, I'm more than ok with the "flavor of the week" as long as those are good movies. And so far, they are.
On Snyder's side of things? Not so much.

Yeah you are right. I really like him but his expression needs a check.

I was upset when it seemed like he was dissing Thor when he said Thor got a film and Superman didn't or something like that, because Thor was my favorite Marvel superhero (recently succeeded by Cap, atleast in the movies). I think he says stuff before thinking it over. Things he says can easily be misinterpreted. He is not the most expressive of directors when it comes to speeches. That's for sure.

His strength lies with visuals. In terms of visuals, frankly, he is up there.

Cute clip of Paul Rudd promoting Ant-Man on a Japanese morning news TV show

He's trying to say "Antoman mite ne!" ("Go see Ant-Man!")

He and Peyton Reed were also at the Japan premiere with some of the actors from the Japanese dub

If it does $10-15m or better in Japan then I'm more than satisfied with that. The only single superhero character who ever seems to light up the Japanese box office is Spider-man. TASM2, bad as it was and it was the lowest grossing Spider-man film in Japan as well, still curb stomped any other American superhero film ever released there that didn't have Spider-man in it with the lone exception of the first Avengers film(AoU lost to TASM2 there by $5m). TASM2 made $30m there and the highest Spidey film made just under $60m there. American superheros just aren't big over there since Japan has it's own superhero pop-cultural IP's and they are very different.

What is the speculation on deleted scenes for Ant-Man?
Is there a list anywhere?
What do they consist of?
The small number of scenes from Ultron on the Blu Ray is worrying.
Hope we get more than four!

There's some stuff if you poke around these boards. There's a couple scenes involving Scott and the crew at an underground casino where he helps the win, and an opening sequence involving Pym as Ant-Man stealing some stuff from a Castro-type that we hope will be expanded into a one shot.

According to the director these are the deleted scenes
1. Prologue with young Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) infiltrating a military compound in Cuba to retrieve a nuclear warhead acquired by a dictator, Castillo (Jordi Molla).

2. Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lily) are introduced discussing their relationships with Pym and with each other while having coffee, with Cross revealing his plans to carve his name is History through Pym Technologies.

3. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) doesn’t return the Ant-Man suit after his “Trial by Water”. When Luis (Michael Peña), Dave (T.I) and Kurt (Dave Dastmalchian) go to a casino, Lang sneaks into their van as Ant-Man and helps them win by cheating on the craps table. When they return home with the money, Lang pretends to not know what happened and joins them as they celebrate.

4. A montage of Lang using the suit for his own benefit: Rigging an ATM machine and using the money to pay two years’ worth of child support to Maggie (Judy Greer), watching Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson) in school and diverting a ball to whack a bully in the face during a game of dodgeball, throwing paperclips at Paxton (Bobby Cannavale) while he’s at work, and trying to rig the lottery by pushing his numbers into the chute, which he fails to accomplish.

5. Lang observing while Maggie puts Cassie to bed and they discuss whether Lang is a bad men. Pym communicates with Lang for the first time at this moment, and realizing that whoever is watching him knows about Cassie is what prompts Lang to return the suit.

6. Originally, Cross’ attempts to reproduce the Pym Particles with animals would precede him unveiling the Yellowjacket to Pym and the potential buyers and then killing a man in the bathroom. He’d also be shown testing the suit several times and therefore being exposed to the Pym Particles.

7. Epilogue with Lang retrieving the stolen Pym Particles from HYDRA operative Mitchell Carson (Martin Donovan).

8. The original post-credits scene would be a gag involving Dave, Luis and Kurt.

yeah i don't like Scott using the suit for his own personal gain via crime at all

Thanks for that list.

Glad they deleted most of that. It would have painted lang in a worse light.

I agree 100%, none of the stuff of him misusing the suit needed to be kept in.

Hope we do get a one-shot with the Hank 1960s scene and would love to see the rest as extras.

It would be great to see the Ant-Man suit in action doing different stuff, but it really doesn't fit with the movie we got.

They should have kept the scenes of Cross testing the suit himself.

The "Pym Particle Poisoning" plot point would been spelled out better.

^Completely agreed. It's the single biggest flaw in the movie.

For those of you not watching Agents of Shield last night. There was a mention of Ant-Man and Pym.

Is this legit?

Awesome if it's true.

I suggested they could do a headlined co-lined Ant-Man and Wasp sequel a while back.
Feige mentioned he wanted Scott and Hope to have a partnership like Hank and Janet had.

Ha!

People were saying this film would flop. Not only was the film a hit but it is getting a sequel!
