I remember my dad being pissed that Angela Bassett wasn't cast as Storm. I agree. Halle Berry wasn't black enough. I can buy Angela Bassett, with an accent, as being straight out of Uganda or wherever Storm came from.

:o

I've never ever used the "C" word. And it's not even because it's taboo. It just simply doesn't exist in my vocabulary.

We should constantly be looking to expand our vocabulary. I called a dude a "Churl" once. He couldn't even get mad cuz he didn't know what it meant. :o

You'd think I was a geriatric the way you and FALLEN ANGEL talk about me.

And I was actually fishing for an answer Moose. Is the "C" word... Colored?

I thought you were a Sniper in 'Nam. That is why you are a geriatric. :o

Oh, and you watch porn. The C-word shall come easy to you.

Sounds like "Punt" but replace the P with a C.

Did you pronounce it like Madea would? Cuz that might have been the problem. Pronouncing a word that already sounds like Perry came up with it AS Madea would most likely twist ones tongue to the point you'd need medical attention.

Meanwhile you can call a black girl pretty much that one and a couple other rougher ones, but the b-word will set **** OFF.

Yeah, apparently the B word is the C word of the Black Community. It's entirely the reverse with white chicks.

LOL....How black someone is does count to rather they are truly a BLACK superhero....doesn't it? Halle was too admired by white men to be truly black. Basset would have been a better choice. :cwink:

Ironically nowadays the darker black chicks are the ones the white boys are into. Some girl jokingly was like, when white guys date a black girl, they want them BLACK. Not mixed, not light skinned.

Angela would have been a better choice cuz she can ACT and Halle barely can. Sorry to her fans, but that chick's been coasting on her looks forever. She's decent at best. Her Oscar nominations are a mystery to me. Her performance in MONSTERS BALL was... AIGHT. :word:

Storm is actually from the NYC, but raised (or rather, not raised but orphaned) in Cairo,Egypt, then became a Goddess in Kenya.

I know.:woot:
You're a smart man with knowledge. :cwink:

Meanwhile you can call a black girl pretty much that one and a couple other rougher ones, but the b-word will set **** OFF.

Yeah because it's rough when you're a black chick... :cwink: But don't call me a female dog or I will whoop your ass.

Ironically nowadays the darker black chicks are the ones the white boys are into.
Yep....it's the full circle of the light skin syndrome. Light skin men went out and now light skin women are out.

:csad:

I still dig Light skinned chicks and dudes. But I've never been all that particular.....

As a light skin black woman, I've always admired my darker brethren.

Those both male and female.

So, the "C" word. Just a white people taboo word or are we supposed to hate using it too?

I imagine everyone is supposed to feel the same way about the word.

I've never ever used the "C" word. And it's not even because it's taboo. It just simply doesn't exist in my vocabulary. I never understood why it was so offensive in the first place. I once read something about how calling a woman that word signifies that she is nothing more than a vagina and that it dehumanizes her. Yeah, that was a bunch of bulls***. I'll gladly debate that flawed ass logic with anyone willing.

I've used the word, but I agree with everything you wrote here. I don't see how it's any worse (or more disgusting) than *****.

Because calling a woman...any woman the c-word is the equivalent of calling them a...GASH....

Not to mention that people go around calling other people ***** all the time to the point where it's heavily accepted. It's actually sexist because it implies that being a penis is a bad thing while you can never use the slang term for a vagina because it's terrible to associate being bad with that. When I hear that I use the "C" word again just to piss them off some more.

No...not true. I know it may be en vogue to say she can't act, but she can. Perhaps she hasn't selected the best roles. I just recently saw "Things We Lost in the Fire" that reminded me she could bring in. Very good movie...very good performance.

Pretty sure he was. Plus the black cop and Dr. Hibert.

Yeah, that's weird then.

We should constantly be looking to expand our vocabulary. I called a dude a "Churl" once. He couldn't even get mad cuz he didn't know what it meant. :o

I feel like I could go out and make a word up then run up to a hood brotha and call him that. He'll be ready to knock my ass out so fast.

Storm is actually from the NYC, but raised (or rather, not raised but orphaned) in Cairo,Egypt, then became a Goddess in Kenya.

Damn, I didn't know that. I'm slacking on my X-Men lore. I just found out a few weeks ago that Colossus's armor comes from an alternate dimension and not from under his skin.

:o

I always thought it was crazy how b**** is a term of endearment sometimes. Context is an interesting thing.

Ironically nowadays the darker black chicks are the ones the white boys are into. Some girl jokingly was like, when white guys date a black girl, they want them BLACK. Not mixed, not light skinned.

Dark skinned...light skinned...if you're pretty in the face and got a nice booty, I don't care if you're an Orion slave girl.

Because calling a woman...any woman the c-word is the equivalent of calling them a...GASH....

But it's arbitrarily more offensive than any of the other words you can use. I don't understand why, and don't treat it as such.

Potato/Tomato. Can't see it man. She's at her BEST a decent actor to me.

I agree Angela Bassett was a better choice...actually a no-brainer. And I would even agree that Halle is a bit overrated, but that doesn't mean she can't act.

I see no void of acting talent.

Calling a woman a gash or the c-word is the equivalent of saying they are a just a person with a hole meant for sexual pleasure.

Some French person correct me if I'm wrong, but the c-word originated from the French word cunny....which doesn't have a nice meaning to begin with.

I never said she can't act. I just think she is overrated.
