Question:

How can a white guy from the suburbs help the black community?

Go study the work of Tim Wise and learn how to deconstruct your White privilege and how to be an ally. That is my sincere recommendation if you are honestly asking how to help.

They keep talking about making Johnny Storm black in a new FF4 movie. I think they should just go all the way and make them Marvel's First(black) Family...if Marvel ever gets them back.

Reed?

My goodness, the media firestorm and the flamewars that will take over these very boards...

:o

Elba is cerebral looking. but i think it'd have to be someone thinner; like Don Cheadle.

Casting is always important, but I would love to see a black Fantastic Four. Stealing from Thor, I bet Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje would make a good Ben Grimm. I was on board when there were talks of Charles S. Dutton for Thing, though he's too old now.

The fanboy love is so great, if Idris was cast in the title role of Yentl, we'd all say it was the most brilliant thing ever.

The Big Brother/Sister association is a great place to start. It's not time consuming, and you can volunteer doing activities you like. When I was active with the organization my "little sister" and I used to have "tea and crumpet" time, which was just a fancy way of saying we went to the library to get books to read, and then I took her to Starbucks for madeleines. :woot: Her mother and I wanted her to read more and it was a fun way to make a difference. I read you don't live near the inner city, so this may be a way of volunteering that does not require you to do a lot of traveling. Often Big Brother/Sister can pair you with someone close to you.

Between the rumors about Michael B. Jordan being considered for the Human Torch and Terry Crews once offhandedly saying he'd love to play the Thing, I say Fox should just bite down and make that all-black Fantastic Four movie.

Except for Sue Storm, who will be played by Rebel Wilson. :woot:

My brothas, and sista, what are y'all currently listening to? I'm jamming some old 112, Foreign Exchange, Rochelle Jordan, and some old Outkast since they're coming back this year. Give me some recommendations so that I can jam some more. If the music is bad I'll have to sue to get your blackness taken away, and if you don't have much blackness I'll make you the darkest person on Earth and leave you in the middle of Florida.:o

Where da white women at?!

I've been listening to a lot of "Portugal. The Man". Which I suppose isn't very black of me or whatever.

I listen to Beck, so don't feel bad.

I've been listening to the new Arctic Monkeys album, Arcade Fire, CHVRCHES, and Fitz and the Tantrums lately.

Oh, and Childish Gambino's newest album is fire.

Really? I thought it was s**t.

It wasn't at Kendrick Lamar levels, but it was nice. I liked it alot. And I'm a guy who didn't like Camp that much. I prefered the stuff that he released independently.

I liked about half the songs off Camp. Heartbeat. That Power. L.E.S.

That mixtape before the new album was garbage though.

But yeah, his indie stuff was the s**t. Still be bumpin' Do ya like and So Fly.

Yeah, me too. I hated the Royalty mixtape as a whole. Only 2 or 3 songs were good.
