The Official Batman (1989) Thread - Part 2

I still have all of these figures in my collection I love all of them.

The Catwoman Returns figure was one of my favorites.

Technically I had the same figure. Kenner took the Returns Catwoman, repainted it and reintroduced it in the Batman Animated Series toyline. They did the same thing with the Robin figure and Bruce Wayne's sports car that transforms into a Batmobile.

Being born in 1990, I sadly missed the wave of Batman 1989 toys. Made up for it with Batman Returns though. :woot:

I did get this as a kid. I absolutely HATED The Joker.

They aren't colorblind, they do it on purpose to be jerks. Honestly, why is it Kenner gave us a painstakingly detailed Star Wars action figure line with every obscure character and vehicle but you couldn't get a Batman or Joker figure with an accurate paint job or mold?

Also, did anyone else get the impression that the Wayne Manor/Batcave playset was made for the first movie but they didn't get it out in time? It has a breakable skylight and zipline, which seems to be based on the Flugelheim Museum scene, the cave portion has an 89 style Bat computer and suit vault (with the 89 style suit inside), and the back portion looks like Axis Chemicals, with the chemical tanks, catwalk, and small plastic vat below a breakaway portion, probably to re-enact Jack's fall. The only thing about it that makes it a Returns playset are the Penguin and Catwoman decals that go on the computer monitors.

That was Kenner's style in their earlier years. Everything looked cheap. The original Batman figure looked terrible. The one in the above image was a remake. Unfortunately they didn't re-do the Joker.

I have the same cave. But it's the one that was part of the BTAS toyline. Originally it was created for the Batman 1989 toyline but I guess they were too lazy to make a new one. But yeah I always noticed this too.

Where I live there was only the Batman figure. But I had the Super Powers collection's Joker. :joker:

I own that Kenner booklet and from what i understand, considering how it wouldn't be available until 1991, Kenner decided to just re-scheme it too follow in with the Batman Returns line since it was going to be released in 1992 anyhow.

Ah, vintage Kenner. I used to collect the Star Wars figures and vehicles in the mid 90's. The vehicles that I had (such as the Millenium Falcon, X-wing fighter, Landspeeder, etc) were the same vehicles used in the 1979 toyline. Except they repainted them. Great toy company but sometimes they were lazy as hell. They even reused a number of action figures from the Batman Returns toyline and reused them for their BTAS action figures. Kenner used the same Batcave for the next decade. This was from 2002.

That's pretty cool that this version came with an Alfred. That's a character that my collection always lacked with the animated series toys.

Oh god, This is the same batcave in Forever for the toys !!!!! I had received her when I was a kid.

For Batman and Robin, what does she look like ? like the movie ? complety awfull ? :D

LOL we all had the same Batcave, but from different toylines.

They had two different Batcaves for Batman Forever. This was the more expensive one. It's funny because it looks more like BTAS cave. I had this for a short period but had to return it because it was missing some parts. Ended up getting the Millenium Falcon instead. But I do remember this cave being pretty big.

They definitely got their moneys worth with that set.

EDIT: You beat me to it, DK90.

Of the countless Batman toys I had a kid, never owned or even saw a cave.

I have never seen a Batcave bigger as this one!!!! It's awesome.
And yes, the batcave from B&R, it's the same too; for Batman Begins, i imagine they stopped this version :)
Great memories !!! and for Forever, i had the small version :(

I did a google search for batcave kenner and came across a few pics of the first Batcave. Why wouldn't Kenner make this? Instead of the real one, we got a hundred variations.

The Batman Begins cave is terrible. I guess it makes more sense to have the reverse side of the cave to be the Tumbler instead of Wayne Manor.

Not only that but it hardly looks like a cave.

Better image of the Returns Batcave.

I love that disco dancing Scarecrow action figure on the left. LOL @ Joker holding a sword so close to Batman's rope. LMAO @ this being a non dangerous situation because Batman is dangling 3 inches from the ground. Man today's kids got sold short with that. What else can you expect from Mattel?

I had both the BR and the bigger BF caves but It saddens me to say I no longer have them.

Didn't you like it when you would buy a toy set, and you could open the box, and dump everything out, and start playing within seconds. Nowadays, the packaging for toys is insanely hard to get everything out.

I had the fold out cave when it was released for Batman Forever. It seemed that the backside was repainted each time to fit a "villain lair" (BTAS aside). It was okay, but I used it as a doorway to the tri-level BF cave. I loved the hell out of that playset.
