Mike Parobeck was amazing... on of, if not my favorute artist of the Batman Adventures comics.

I also enjoyed the Worlds Finest adaptation from Paul Dini...

Really? What adaptations were you reading for comic book movies that came out prior to home video existing? And what comic book movies came out on VHS years after their theater release? Maybe Superman The Movie...

I'm talking about comic book adaptations in general. Not only superhero movies have them. But they are dying out, or already did.

I do remember DC publishing one shot comics featuring the villains from Batman Forever and Batman and Robin when those movies came out. I avoided the Riddler, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze and Bane issues for whatever reason but I really liked the Two Face issue.

I liked this one too. The Mr Freeze one is actually great. Paul Dini wrote it if I remember correctly. The Ivy one was decent too. Only read those three.

yeah,i loved the Freeze one. you wanna see a REALLY pissed off Batman, after what Freeze does to Robin, that's the book to get!

Who knows what Furst's mental state was so few months before his death.

I could be wrong, but I remember hearing somewhere that all of the B89 sets were still standing in the London studios at the time of BR's development. But for tax reasons or something, they decided to shoot in LA instead, and all of the sets were destroyed.

this was true. it was a big deal at the time, because NO movies ever kept the sets up after they finished filming, but so confident was WB that this would do great, they continued renting the Pinewood lots where the Batman 89 stages were built so they'd be ready to go for the inevitable sequel.

then it was revealed that BR would be filming in California, for it was cheaper to do so there than over in England ( whether for tax-reasons or not, i do not know). and all those wonderful Batman 1989 sets went down the toilet! :cmad:

the one that kills me the most is the Batcave. in 89, it LOOKED like a Bat-Cave! mutiple levels, with a killer main computer terminal/area. in BR,it was clearly just one part of the soundstage, covered in darkness to hide it.

Thats one of the biggest shames in film history, all those amazing sets just thrown away? You'd think WB could of saved some of them somehow, imagine if they did and used them as part of a six flags theme park, it would be iconic.

Sometimes it's more expensive to store things.

It should make sense to use them for theme parks, but they aren't always ideal. Some set pieces just don't last well. Things need to be pretty sturdy for theme park traffic, even if it is just used in a queue line.

It's a shame.

Speaking of this, they used pretty huge sets in Batman Begins...wonder what happened to all of that? I'd imagine it's been recycled in some way for other films.

Anyone else have this souvenir magazine when they were young?

I loved it.

I had a book version for '89 and Forever. And then I had a similar magazine for Batman & Robin.

I remember they came out before the films so they really helped me get hyped for the movies, back in those pre-internet days.

^Yep! I also had one with a Batman hologram on the cover. I was at the grocery shoppe with my Mum and she bought it for me (it was the mag or some sweets, I chose the mag) :cwink:

I also had that magazine as a kid, my grandmother got it for me at a grocery store as well.

I have the Poison Ivy......and I think the heroes got one shots too...or at least Batgirl has one, I have that one too.

Michelle Pfieffer will always be the best classic Catwoman.

Sorry, but I don't really like or enjoy Anne Hathaway's performance as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. But I give her credit for it.

I remember watching World's Finest on cartoon. Love the catfight between Harley and Mercy.

Though I think Mercy makes a better sidekick/henchwoman than Harley.

Wow, I never realized there was a comic adaptation of Mask of the Phantasm.

^ yeah there was even a digest size adaptation of it packaged with the first VHS releases of MOTP.

I rewatched it last night, I just love that Christopher Walken was able to be apart of that movie.

"Bruce Wayne? Why are you dressed up as Batman?" :hehe:

Just watched him in Seven Psychopaths... but he'll always be Max Schreck to me.

Yeah I love they way he just says it like he's thinking "This balding guy is Batman?"

Incidently I realized this was Christopher Walken at this point of his career when he wasn't yet playing the kooky oddball characters that he would later be known for. Before BR I just knew him from The Deer Hunter and Dead Zone.

My Catwoman :hrt:... images like this just personify the character for me.
