Well Brook was awesome, but his corner saw he wasn't moving anymore. He was starting to get beat up and they called it early. Business decision from the corner.

GGG looked wild as hell tonight until the 5th. Wonder if the rumors of sickness were true.

I'm starting to wonder if Golovkin is starting to age a bit. Honestly, he didn't look all that great against Wade either. So, he's been lethargic in his last two fights imo.
Brook looked very good but just couldn't take the power. Usually GGG's offense looks good, but this time it was mostly the power that won him the fight.

Which is exactly what Canelo is hoping for.

Reply to Darth: Yeah, Brook's reputation will improve with this loss. The corner have to call it as they see it, and were calling for the end for a fair while before the ref saw. Yeah Golovkin was not at his best tonight, didn't know about the illness rumours.

GGG literally beat him around the ring, along the ropes, which is why they were up early. That is what they told him to not let happen. Still, no wonder Khan doesn't want any of that. Brook would probably destroy him.

On HBO Hopkins can't stop calling Kell, Kyle. :funny:

Yeah, on the replay it looked bad. Didn't notice quite so much at the time when the corner first started with the towel. And lol at Khan taking them on. Doubt he could even get life insurance to take on GGG. Would be the most brutal KO in history.

Kell didn't look all that well in the corner before the last round; he looked dejected. He didn't want to quit but he didn't have anything left by the time of the stoppage.

When Canelo knocked Khan out, I was already sure that Brook would beat him. Kahn proved again that once you start timing his speed you're going to start getting to him. Kell's performance today just makes me more confident.

I am trying to remember the last time I saw someone knocked out with a jab. That would definitely be a possibility in a fight between GGG and Khan. :funny:

I have always thought Brook would beat Khan. Now I think he'd destroy him.

Well done to the corner for getting Brook out there early. He would've been stopped in the next round in all likely hood.

The air from a missed Golovkin Jab would knock Khan out stone cold. :woot:

Don't see how people can have an issue with that stoppage
Because they don't know as much about boxing as they think? :woot:

The corner threw the towel in, and they know their fighter better then anyone. They were the ones talking to him between rounds and understand their body language.

I DVR'ed the fight, so I just went back and saw the last round again. Hopkins is crazy, he doesn't see how much Brook slowed down (he was basically living on the ropes at that point) or how many clean shots he was getting hit with all of a sudden?

On the replay it was clear with multiple consecutive clean shots from that monster and Brook on the ropes repeatedly offering nothing back. You always have to trust the corner. But watching it live in real time I was surprised when I first saw them waving the towel. Impressive that Brook didn't go down at all to GGG. He's got heart soaking all that up. Can imagine him being a a top guy now at a lower weight. If he can take that punishment, and with those skills he will be a problem for anyone.

Said it before and I will say it again, a boxer with movement, like a Lara would beat GGG. Brook had moments where GGG was dazed and he may deny it but clearly hurt. And this is a welterweight. No question Ward would absolutely dominate this guy. This is why people say he's overrated. Not saying he's not good but he is clearly overrated. There! I said it!

Come at me bro! :o

GGG better not ever fight any top level boxer like that. People need to kill that Ward talk, ...

GGG doesn't have trouble with the Lara-type movement. Brook had his best success when he stood his ground and landed those left uppercuts between GGG's gloves, during combinations. When ever he was on the back foot, Golovkin just tracked him down; the only thing Kell could do was flash an occasional right hand lead that had no power on it.

Lara moves like Willie Monroe did, which is still tailor-made for GGG. Brook's movement was more like Danny Garcia's when he fought Matthysse; subtle, economical footwork that conserves energy and leaves you in better position to counter.

My take away from this is that if GGG fights Canelo looking like he has in his last two fights, Alvarez has a very good chance of winning.

Oh they have! You have guys like fat ass Dan Rafael who's CLEARLY on HBO's payroll to hype this guy up and won't say ANYTHING bad about the guy but will bash fighters who call him out as boring(AKA Lara, who's boring so why should GGG fight him)but styles make fights so why not let them meet up to see who wins? People are such sheep to fall for it. Lara would be the biggest name on GGG's weak ass resume that it's not even funny. It's laughable to see that the biggest name on his resume is a freaking welterweight!

I am not sure what exactly Golovkin achieves by staying at Middleweight now. The division is lacking any clear talent's. Should move up to 168.

Then why won't GGG fight him? Instead he fights a no name like Monroe, when Lara is clearly the biggest name he would have. Before this fight, I said I thought GGG would beat Lara but now I'm 99% sure Lara would absolutely school him. Why? GGG would have a puncher's chance. GGG's camp KNOW their fighter has a weakness against pure boxers and movers and his window is short which is why they avoid certain fighters and are pushing hard for Canelo, who's also tailor made for GGG but not so sure GGG could beat him because even though he has slow feet, he has fast hands which could give GGG trouble. HBO knows how to build up it's stars.

Nothing! The division is weak AF! But I will say that I can understand him wanting to be the undisputed MW champion of the world........but he should pursue fights at different divisions if they present themselves. I think Canelo/GGG fight would be huge but after that, GGG/Ward needs to happen.

Agreed. I think Canelo/Golovkin fight is more doable than Golovkin/Ward. Ward has moved up to Light Heavy and he's facing that other cold mofo in Kovalev. So that fight is long gone I think.
