The Official Casting The Superman Reboot Thread - Part 1

So can we all assume that these Lohan rumors are nothing more than stupid publicity stunts to draw attention away from her other mishaps?

I would be so beyond surprised if Snyder and co. honestly considered her for any role in a movie as BIG and as CRUCIAL as this movie is going to be.

Even if Snyder thought for a minute about Lohan, Nolan would come in and pimp slap somebody (could be Lohan for all we know) and an end would be put to it ;)

Btw I was joking how Lex could be an unmentioned named and brought up Kevin McKidd. I actually think he'd be a great Metallo if he appears in the film.

McKidd is awesome. He'd be great as Lex, Metallo or even Zod.

Sounds like he may indeed be looked at and cast in MOS, and start filming his scenes in September? Reportedly, MOS is starting to film in mid August and those scenes will supposedly be scenes of Clark and or the Kents to begin with.

Let's hope he is happy with what the MOS script has to offer when it comes to whatever character he is being looked at for Superman. I think chances are good WB's and Snyder will land him, perhaps with a little help from Nolan.

Crossing fingers.

SIGH. Still pissed Journeyman was cancelled... :(

McKidd is an unknown. After casting such big name stars (Costner, Lane, Adams) it would be underwhelming to cast a relatively unknown actor as Lex or whatever villain they go with.
Whoever they cast as the villain will likely have a name recognition on par or greater than Costner and Lane.
All that I know for sure is that it won't be Kevin Spacey!

Ya we've all mentioned we expect a known Lex. If you read through the Lex thread, that's where you'll get the context of why I brought up McKidd. The idea that everyone has been wrong on the net about this movie, so for all we know we won't even get the known name we expect. Kind of kidding around, but then thought "man he actually would be a good choice if they'd ever consider him"

Never thought of McKidd as Lex, but that would be an awesome idea. I agree, he also would be a good fit for Metallo.

I'm thinking that if that Sam Lane rumor has any truth to it, then that is the role that Viggo was up for. That premise doesn't sound bad at all, but I agree with everyone that said it sounds like (both) Hulk movies. I know it was based on Secret Origin and maybe Secret Origin was written before those films (not sure, haven't read it) but I just worry that people are going to see it and think it's just The Hulk, starring Superman.

Then again, the Hulk films weren't huge hits and both of them (even the one with Norton, which I really liked) were somewhat forgettable. So maybe no one (other than us) would even notice the similarities.

If Viggo is in, I'm sold. The casting would reek of Nolan, who obviously has a tendency to have his entire cast as great A-List ACTORS (not exactly stars) Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen in a Superman film! great time to be a supes fan!

Clark Kent/Superman: Henry Cavill
Lois Lane: Amy Adams
Martha Kent: Diane Lane
Jonathan Kent: Kevin Costner
Jimmy Olsen: Rupert Grint
Perry White: James Caan
Jor-El: Jon Hamm
Lara: Lena Hedley
Lex Luthor: Joaquin Phoenix
General Zod: Viggo Mortenson
Ursa/Faora: Diane Kruger

Joaquin Phoenix for Luthor....wow.. I could see him pulling it off.
I just wonder if general audiences could accept him in such a role after that horrible hoax he pulled off, that did not help his career a bit!
It's like having Tom Cruise in a movie nowadays, every time you see him, the memory of his crazy antics on Oprah is relived and you react to him in a different way than you did before the jumping-on-couch incident.
I think James Cann is too old.
Jon Hamm as Jor El would be awesome...if he were Jor El, I hope we get an extended Krypton scene.
How about Edward Norton for Lex Luthor or Zod?

I think Norton would be a pretty good Lex. I was actually thinking that he might not make a bad Brainiac either.

That sounds all nice and good until he demands script changes and locks Snyder out of the editing room...

What if they have Cavill playing Jor-El?After all,the comics always portray Jor-El as nearly identical to his son (even if now they're going for the Brando route)

At least they should cast someone who actually resembles Cavill a bit.

DDL or Mortensen as Lex.
Reeves or Law as Brainiac.
Kiefer Sutherland as John Corbin.
Ian McShane as Morgan Edge.
John Goodman as Perry.
Rupert Grint or Anton Yelchin as Jimmy.
Russell Crowe, Jor-el.
Catherine Zeta Jones, Lara.
*IF* we get Zod, then either Eric Bana or Clive Owen.
James Gandolfini, Dan Turpin.

Russell Crowe as Jor-El, I think he'd also be a good choice.

agreed...i love when movie relatives actually resemble each other, which is one of the reasons why i love Batman Begins. Thomas Wayne actually resembles Bruce.

So a few sites are reporting Shannon confirmed as Zod. If we have to have Zod, I'm glad he got that role instead of Lex. It would fit him more imo.

seems like they're specifically aiming for Oscar winning or nominated thespians....i wonder if this train of thought will continue for the less popular roles as well (Perry White, Jor-El, etc.). guess this counts Lindsay Lohan out of any roles, hehe.

Man im really curious as to who is being looked at for Lex.
