Aim low and hope for the best is better  I get what you are saying but just being a pain :D

As long as they are solid actors, the oscar noms don't mean that much. Nothing wrong with trying to rival the Batman cast though ;)

Everyone keep in mind, Oscar winners do not equal a great performance.

Kevin Spacey anyone? :oldrazz:

Now that we know that Zod is in MOS and Kryptinian mythology will be there in some way and some flashbacks of scenes on Krypton are likely, we should cast Jor El.

JIM CAVIEZEL for JOR EL.

No to Jon Hamm, he would have been suitable for Jonathan Kent though, his looks are too much down to Earth, he cannot convince anyone that he is an alien.

Jim Caviezel is perfect as Jor El.

It comes down to story / script, even if Singer had cast DDL as Lex and Chris Reeve as Superman SR would still be a moderately successful movie.

Gary Oldman has never been nominated for an oscar. That should show you how much they really matter.

What is everyone's thoughts on the latest Lohan rumor of her being in the running for Lana? These damn rumors keep popping up and my fear is that with all these Lohan rumors coming up that they may bring with them more than a grain of salt.

Hey,when I see a casting that isnt an Oscar winner or nominee, then I'll stop. :woot:

I dont really like it either when people seem to think an Oscar-award or nomination is a greencard for anything.

Actually the only cast-member I feel really fits the role other than Cavill is Costner. The others have potentiale sure, but also just feels like names having been slapped on the production. Much like with Brandon for Jor-El. B.O.-casting IMO.
I dont even think someone like Shannon gives a **** about his role. In that interview he just seemed somewhat disconnected to the role and the film.

I await the Lex-casting with scepticism, but also anticipation. I imagine they'll cast the biggest name here. I really do. Depp, Cruise, Penn, etc. Names like that.

But.......
Kevin Spacey was the BEST thing about Superman Returns!
Spacey is a great artist.
I guess some people just don't have the capacity to discern between good art and bad art.

Someone likes being patronizing. lol

Just because someone doesn't like a particular actor in a film doesn't mean they lack the capacity to appreciate quality.

I think Spacey is a brilliantly talented man, but for me, his portrayal of Luthor wasn't anything special.

I totally agree. Like the overall movie, Spacy was just boring.

I'd rather have Lex be like Rorshach than be as boring as Lex was in SR. Strange comparison, but I dont EVER want another desaturated SR!

I would love Jim to be Jor-El. I think Jor-El should look like an older Superman, and that is what i see Jim as

Caviezel would be a good choice. He has that same noble presence that Cavill has.

And again, has the same quietness about him that Costner also has.

And he wanted to play Superman at one point, so here's the next best thing.

Ummmm... Kevin Spacey was IMO the WORST thing about SR (other than the entire plotline with the kid).

I love Kevin Spacey's other work, and have never seen him come out with a bad performance before... which is what made his performance in SR so shocking. I thought his Luthor was going to be immense... instead we got this:

I put it up there with Nicholas Cage's 'Not the Bees!', in the hall of acting shame.

Caviezel would be a good choice. He has that same noble presence that Cavill has.

Exactly what I think, and I loved the Count of Monte Cristo too :)

I'm starting to think there is no other supervillain besides Zod and Lex in this movie. I really hope I'm wrong but I just got that feeling.

Actually he didn't really "star" in it with him. It was a pretty limited role really. He did show they look great as father and son together which is good.

there was talk in other threads of changing perry or jimmy black but i say no to that but with the possible birthright connection do you think

Kobe Asuru could be in this film?

I think he would be a good strong African american character i guess you can say he was a black non powered version of superman as he had strong beliefs and wanted to help his people.

thoughts?

Also starring Cavill. :yay:

Of course :D

Why on earth would we need more? I don't want this to be another SM3 fiasco.

Although I hope that they hint at Intergang, even if it's just in a newspaper heading or something.
