The Official Choose A Director Thread

Peter Jackson. There is no better choice. He has proven time and time again that he can make epic sci/fi fantasy movies with huge budgets...just let him do whatever the hell he wants...

His King Kong made me lost the faith in him forever.

WB doesn't need to aim high for a Superman director. It just needs the right director.

Not someone like Zack Snyder and Ridley Scott just because their big names but someone like Christopher Nolan (Momento, Insomnia) was for Batman, Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Darkman, the Gift) was for Spider-Man, and Jon Favreau (Elf, Zathura) was for Iron Man.

I think, Brad Bird(Iron Giant, Incredibles, Ratatouille) is a top-notch addition to this list. I think in the way those other director's had strong talents but not necessarily huge action backgrounds, Bird has the story-telling talents and outlook on film-making that Superman could use right now IMHO.

The problem with Brad Bird is that he is an actual employee of Disney-Pixar.

While he has expressed in going into live action film making, he wants to remain a part of the Pixar staff and has no desire to leave. His first live action film, 1906, will be Pixar's first live action film.

Considering that Superman is a Warner Bros. property, Brad Bird directing a Superman film is pretty much a zero possibility.

Although you are thinking out of the box. And I like that, especially since when it comes to directors who have made perfect interpretations of comic book properties they are made by directors who really are out of the box like Richard Donner and Superman and the others I mentioned.

I think people mention the usual directors because lets face it, they have done the most movies so they have probably seen at least one if not more. Hippie Hunter is right though, you need a director that is right for the job. But when the director is announced I'm sure everyone will be up in arms that its not jackson, spielberg, cameron, and whatever other director they have mentioned.

Brad Bird has been suggested time and again for Superman on these boards.

Compared to Peter Jackson, Michael Bay, Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron who are big name epic directors, Brad Bird, who comes from a background of animation, is out of the box like Richard Donner, Chris Nolan, Sam Raimi, and Jon Favreau were.

I'm aware of that. I'm saying that Bird's name has been thrown around a lot in this very thread, (if I recall correctly) or one of the other director threads. Out of the box for studios, but not for "Us" which is what I trying to say, I guess.

But if we're going to say Brad Byrd then why not just say Bruce Timm and be done with it. IF we want a director that is passionate about this stuff and is "outside the box" Timm is the man for the job.

It's funny that he misspelled it while quoting someone that had spelled it correctly.

What rumor are we going to start now?
Paul Dano as Jimmy Olsen?
Steve Carrell as Lex Luthor as part of his new contract with WB?

I can totally see Carrell with a bald head, yelling "This isnt a good look for me!"

His King Kong made me lost the faith in him forever.
because it was hes childhood dream to make this movie.

like superman not Singer.

it looks like a director should not make dream movies.
