The Official Choose A Director Thread

but there were rumors of them being in the running back last yr. It Turned out to be bogus of course, but alot of folks bought into it.

That's my point. It was crap. Hell, it read like crap from the initial report - i.e. someone in Germany happened to catch James McTeigue on television claiming that the Wachowskis might do it? Seriously.

Why not put someone who was actually in the running and stood a legit shot like Gore Verbinski.

Oh I feel ya, but I can see his point too. true or otherwise they were still rumored.
Verbinski would be the shet.:yay:

Now let's play the how would it be if game..

If Bay directs a Superman movie, it'd be the first Superman movie to include fart jokes. And probably some veiled racism (probably in the form of alien stereotypes)

I'm trying to imagine what ghetto aliens would be like. :funny:

OMG? I hope there's nothing to the Bay rumors...

I'm not a Bay hater, but I was less than impressed with some of his work in ROTF, most importantly the stale acting of the human characters. I'll admit he does do action extremely well and doesn't skimp on it either and that's what made Rotf a half way decent film.

And more action is desperately what Superman needs. But Michael Bay shouldn't be allowed anywhere near this franchise. Bay really hasn't taken the transformers seriously, and he didn't respect alot of the sorce material (but since the Transformers have had so many incarnations over the years and were pretty much a half hour toy comercial to begin with, it wasn't so bad- except for hardcore G1 fans). However, If he took the same aproach to Superman it would be a total disaster.

Imagine a Superman costume that looks nothing like the costume we know (not just a darker shade of red, or a slightly small S but a completely different costume), imagine a comic relief scene where Superman gets an erection in his tights, imagine Krypto humping Lois, or Darkseid calling superman a punk @** B****...It scares me to think what might happen if Bay were given the keys to Superman, even if it meant WB raking in twice the box office SR made. Since I don't get any of that money, I'd prefer they make the best movie possible instead, with plenty of substance and inteligence to go along with tons of action and explosions.

Please don't attack me claiming I want another overly dramactic film like we got with Superman Returns, but I think somewhere in the middle of those two aproaches is where a truely great Superman film will be made.

I included the Wachowskis because they have always gone in circles with Superman related rumors. I'm not even specifically mentioning them because of the rumor back in Feb. I mean, over the last 3-4 years you couldn't go 6 months almost without a Wachowski rumor (yes unconfirmed) popping up. There was something going on at a point btw, Showtime can probably confirm that.

Bryan Singer??? He was rumored for the sequel. :oldrazz:

LOL you missed the entire discussion it seems. It looks like you came in the thread with your mind made up to make the comment regardless if it had been discussed. ha ha

I voted for the Wachowskis, but now that I think about it, McG would probably be okay as long as he he had a good script to work with.

Cop out answer, that's why it is not an option :)

Out of previous rumored, nearly set to direct... Which one? Seems to be Bay is running away with it.

Those four options really aren't that good. You can't blame people for not wanting to pick between them - even if it is the whole point of the thread.

Out of those, the Wachowski, but only by a process of elimination. After watching TF2 Bay ahs become the new Joel Schumacher of comic books movies.

well if wb really just wanted an action packed film bay would be their man there.

The Wachowskis would be the lesser evil. A Bay directed Superman would probably be a worldwide blockbuster, but damn it would suck like nothing before. It would make SR look like an Oscar winning film.

LMAO! :lmao:

You know the lame Bay would cast Fox as Lois Lane and he would make her dress and act like a total skank (which Fox dresses like most of the time anyways I'm sure) of a reporter. Matter of fact, Fox wouldn't really be acting since she can't act anyways!

Tight short skirt, with cleavage hanging all over the place in 5 inch high heels!

Then he would probably miscast someone like Chris Rock to play Jimmy Olsen and just have him be the unecessary comedy relief!

Oh man...the lame Bay is so predictable isn't he? :o

Why isn't Gore in there? Wasn't he previously rumoured?

I would choose him if he was on the list......

Out of those options, I'd take the Wachowskis. They have a knack for presenting great CGI movies and could probably do wonders with a villain like Brainiac.

Though, my top choice would still be Francis Lawrence. I watched I Am Legend again last night and his style of filming really is impressive. Of course, the script would have to be good, too.

The Wachowskis or Michael Bay would be OK. I would prefer someone better, but I wouldn't complain.

YEa it would be a tough call if only these guys were to pick from who would be the ok one to go with.

Ya know I'd be happy with an official Superman announcement for Christmas. Seriously that would make me happier than a 360 game, blu ray player, hell even a new car etc...

Just give us the \S/

Chri\S/tma\S/ !!!
