The Official Choose A Director Thread

Would DiCaprio really make that great of a lex ?

I can imagine it. Those classic panels that have Supes hovering outside of Luthor's office and Lex is just ranting and spewing bile at Superman. Think of Leo in the scene from the Departed where he sees the psychiatrist for the first time and he's getting pissed at having to be there and not getting any meds.

On second thought, I do remember that Law/Alex Ross manip. He looked good. But neck-down, Law is at least 40 pounds away from looking remotely good for the part.

Don't suppose someone can dig that up?

Just bad hair in the pic.

I just saw him in a couple recent movies he did.

No way would I guess 40. Like I said abour 34 at oldest imo.

You know... he doesn't look half bad there.

Just for the fun of it? Then Pitt. He'd have the biggest B.O. draw.
My personal fav up there tho is Caviezel

I honestly think we will get a Known actor this time round
but hollywood at the moment doesnt have too many Superman looking guys on the scene at the moment

Ryan Reynolds! I won't be satisfied until he has played every comic book character possible!!

Brendan Fraser. I've never heard that suggestion, or thought of it myself. I LIKE it!

What sort of tone would the movie have then if Brendan Frasier was Superman?

Depends. He's need to ditch the quasi-goofball thing he has going on in most of his roles.

i think josh hartnett would be great and he could play the clark part with his eyes closed (not literally ;-))

Josh was offered the part and turned it down years ago.....at least that was the rumour.

I'm surprised you've never heard of it. Fraser was up for the role and was a serious contender back in the day.

It's true. Straight from Hartnett:

Have you been approached for “Superman” again?
I was approached a couple of times for it. I’m not going to do it.

They tried again?
They tried to get me a couple of times and it just wasn’t for me.

A big franchise doesn’t hold any interest to you?
Depending on what it was. If it was a franchise that I thought… If the character was up my alley, I’d do it. But there aren’t that many characters the big studios have been making that have been intriguing to me.

If he were between the ages of 28-32, I would openly campaign for David Boreanaz.

I would never have wanted Brendan Fraser as Superman. I know he's a big beefy guy but he's always looked so goofy and dumb to me. Same with Kutcher.

Jake Gyllenhaal is the only really well-known actor I could see in the role, even if he looks less like a traditional Superman than other candidates mentioned here.

I'd also take Cavill or Bomer (yes, even after that Japanese commercial), but I don't know of they're considered well-known actors.

No well known actor for Superman for god's sake. Mayyyyyyyybe Jim Caviezel is the only one i can accept.

I'd love for a superman franchise to end open ended, not like that piece of crap ending mark millar had. I don't want to see supermans entire life from birth to death, that's lame. I want to see a different origin and I want to see the franchise not end with millars vision, you can't kill off superman with him staying dead.

I think it would be kool to have sort of a red son type ending.

Well finally that mark millar director was revealed. That answers that mystery.

Yeah. Have Krypton actually be Earth of the distant future, with Kal-El's spacecraft being sent back to the past. That's a twist of awesome and epic proportions. :word:

Didn't AICN have the leather rumour for "Smallville"? Or was it someone else?
