DMC2 is easily the worst of the bunch, so yes.
DMC2 is by far the worst game in the series, and seen as stain on the series by... well everyone. May I suggest the DMC HD collection, which contains the first and third game. Those are the classics. DMC4 is also good.I played DMC 2 on PS2. Sickest game I've ever played back in the day. Haven't played the new versions though. Are they any good?
I remember really liking 2 when I first played it, but mostly because of the cool backflips when dodging in battle. I'm sure when I get around to my PS3 trilogy remaster my opinion will change though![]()

The new DMC is blah from a gameplay perspective, and they ruined the style of the old games. Hopefully the remaster improved it.
go back and play it now. It was dreadful. I remember not minding it when it came out. I played it when the collection was released and its an awful gameI enjoyed it. But then again I was like 10,when I first played that game. I remember Dante doing sick stuff with his machine guns. Which one is the best of the bunch though?
The first and third games. They are classics, and two of the best Hack n' Slash games ever made. Right alongside Ninja Gaiden Black and Bayonetta 1 and 2.I enjoyed it. But then again I was like 10,when I first played that game. I remember Dante doing sick stuff with his machine guns. Which one is the best of the bunch though?
I played it. I liked some of it. Surprisingly liked Dante more then I expected. Not a fan of the story or style outside of Dante. The gameplay is mediocre at best, especially compared to the all time status of original and Dante's Awakening. It is slow, with lazy enemy AI and no active variety. Bayonetta 2 came out last year, and wiped the floor with it. All that being said, the night club level is fantastic.DmC IS amazing. Truly one of the more underrated game of last gen. People never gave it a fair chance and were determined to hate it off principle alone. I bet some that did try it actually didnt mind it but felt the need to unnecessarily hate on it anyway bc they couldnt bare to admit it was actually a decent game. Id highly recommend it to anyone. Its a solid entry for the genre and franchise
I found it arrogant when people would tell me that it was awful and that my opinion didnt matter bc I wasnt some DMC diehardI played it. I liked some of it. I do find it incredibly arrogant to tell others how they felt about it by the way. Especially considering I'd question your knowledge of the genre if you think DMC is a solid entry.![]()

DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition is being released today, and Capcom and Ninja Theory have posted an in-depth changelog detailing the changes made to the game since its original release.
The log has been written by Definitive Edition Creative Director, Rahni Tucker, and can be downloaded over at Capcom Unity. Here’s an example of some of the nitty-gritty you’ll find within pertaining to Vergil:
- Tweaked Rising Star and Solar Flare hit timings, and added a 3rd strike at the peak.
- Nerfed damage and style on Volcano when full charged, and just released.
- Adjusted hover windows on aerial attacks.
- Damage of Spiral Swords and Blistering Swords slightly reduced
- Reduced the number of hits Spiral Swords can take before they break.
- Parry Windows are slightly shorter
Changes have also been made to the style system in the game. Ninja Theory write: “Style Bonuses in the original game became too ‘spammy’ and didn’t feel like a reward for doing something cool – they just became par for the course. At the same time, players doing awesome super long combo chains with brilliant finishers weren’t getting properly rewarded… what we wanted to see was a big jump-cancel combo ending with a helmbreaker kill be rewarded with a pop in the style system. So, with this in mind we replaced a lot of the old Style Bonuses with an ‘awesome combo’ bonus. It counts the number of consecutive attacks you do in a row, then when you do a ‘finishing move’ you get a big bonus based on number of hits in the combo. Finishing moves are basically the last hit in any combo, or any slam down attack.”

Then why do you feel the need to take jabs at others on the subject whenever given the chance?I found it arrogant when people would tell me that it was awful and that my opinion didnt matter bc I wasnt some DMC diehard
And I didnt tell anyone how they should feel about it. People are free to make up their own minds. I really am not bothered either way
What jabs were taken? I saw you be the one to insinuate I was arrogant. I just expressed an opinion on the title. Besides the game just got re-released today. Discussion has gone back to talking about it. Expressing an opinion on it is actually relevant right now. Is it that difficult to understand why I made a post about my thoughts on it today? Then why do you feel the need to take jabs at others on the subject whenever given the chance?
I have no problem with anyone liking what they like. You do you. But that is exactly what those that aren't fans of the new series are doing as well. DMC 5 is their preferred avenue of continuation, and considering how badly the last game did, seems the wise choice for the company. Especially considering how weak Ninja Theory's output has been in general imo.
Personally, beyond the aesthetic and story, which is very much a personal taste imo. The mechanics just don't measure up. Now, that isn't always a deal breaker for me. God of War 1 and 2 are some of my absolute favorite games, but fall a tab short in the combat department imo. But at least they have some speed and challenge to go along with the puzzles, platforming, story, characters and visuals.
Any game that seems like a bunch of 16 year olds you'd find in a 4chan or Youtube comments section wrote the dialogue is bound to be divisive. But I suppose that's who they wrote it for, so it's success shouldn't be too surprising.
You get afor cool gif usage. But seriously, dat writing. It's not like DMC1-4 set the bar very high in the first place.
It was like Citizen Kane in comparison to DMC1-4, and I say that as a huge fan.
That is the thing, it wasn't a success. It bombed, at least out of the gate. The story put me off DmC. I thought the gameplay was quite decent, it didn't trump 3/4 IMO but it was engaging enough for a single play through at least. I don't know what the **** Tameem was thinking with that story though, I know there's some dumb **** out there but to go that full out and still have the gall to call it "Some of the best writing gaming has to offer"...Pffffftt. Dante didn't look too bad though.

DMC 2 maybe. I have my issues with DMC3, but they are streets better from a story and character stand point. Melancholy, does not equal better writing. It was like Citizen Kane in comparison to DMC1-4, and I say that as a huge fan.
