Capcom The Official Devil May Cry Thread

Looking at the reviews and general fan reaction. Yeah, DMC was an awful idea. :funny:

Couldn't be happier to have to proper Devil May Cry back. :atp:

I have just watched 1 and 2 be played. Frankly, I am shocked that DMC made past those games.

One is great imo. It was also really the first of its kind and the reason we got games like Ninja Gaiden, God of War, etc. 2 is trash.

Big fan of the reboot personally but it was the first game in the franchise I ever played. I enjoyed it that much though it was my first ever platinum.

Playing through the HD collection of 1-3 now and have completed and enjoyed 1 but trying to platinum it before getting to the others. So playing V is a way off for me, I do like the look of it though.

the full story of the orginal Devil may cry series . hopefully dante's promise to his mom about Vergil come to fruition. lol they even got a famous English anime actor to narrate this top video inthe article below

PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players will finally be able to enjoy the latest entry in Capcom's acclaimed hack and slash series, when Devil May Cry 5 releases in two more days, on Friday the 8th of March.

Just a few days ago, Capcom released a short video whose only purpose was to tell the story of the Devil May Cry series thus far. Apparently, Capcom wasn't satisfied — as they decided to release yet another video in the same vein.

The latest video posted by Capcom, ahead of Devil May Cry 5's release, is a thorough revision of the main events that have happened in every single one of the previous games in the series; as a refresher for anyone who hasn't recently played the Devil May Cry series, or don't want to marathon the games ahead of Devil May Cry 5's launch.

Take a look:

A new demonic invasion has begun with the seeds of a demon tree being sown in Red Grave City. Now fully equipped with his trusty Red Queen and Blue Rose, and a new arsenal of rad robot hands thanks to his partner Nico, Nero must rise up to this new impossible task. With such insane amount of energy and destruction emanating from this surprise invasion, the stage is now set for the latest chapter of the “Sons of Sparda” saga.

Devil May Cry 5 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on the 8th of March in 2019.

It's almost time, folks, as Capcom's Devil May Cry 5 will finally be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC tomorrow; after a very long 10-year gap that made some fans think Capcom was done with their iconic hack and slash series.

So far, Capcom has been making sure that every fan of the series gets a refresher by releasing a few videos that go over the series' main events; something that not only long-time fans will appreciate, but also newcomers to the series who may not have the time to play all of the previous titles ahead of Devil May Cry 5's launch.

Powered by Capcom's RE engine, the Devil May Cry series has never looked better, and players will be able to enjoy the game in all of its glory as they play through it as Dante of Sparda, Nero, and third new playable character V.

In order for players to get somewhat acquainted with the mysterious V, ahead of Devil May Cry 5's long-awaited release, Capcom has released a new combat trailer that sees him summoning fear with the help Shadow, Griffon, and Nightmare, his own personal pet-demons — but don't worry, he'll be gentle.

I was gonna buy this until I saw this:

I refuse to support stupid censorship. Even when its minor. I'll wait and see if Sony reverses their stance. If not I'll be getting DMCV on Xbox or PC. Same goes for any future games Sony censors.

It's quite kind boggling isn't it? Censor some slight nudity in an M rated game, and only on PS4...

Either way who ever did that is literal trash.

Its metacritic rating is pretty high.
there's a lot of closer in this game. Especially with what Dante mentioned about promising his mother after she died in the first anime.

so alot of peeps are satisfied.

As I promised .

Played and completed. Started on a new playthrough. It's a fun game. Gameplay is good, the story is fine enough. Could have had better dialogue and performances, but I suppose it's what you'd expect from a DMC game.

I do find V a bit of a pain to get used to and I think in general too much of the combos are locked behind orb pay walls. I think the reason why it takes a while to accumulate a decent amount is because the series has introduced micro-transactions to the system.

so the only thing left after all the character are made playable via this is the up coming net flix anime.

Here is an overview of the mode, via Capcom:

Bloody Palace is a survival mode that pits you against hordes of increasingly difficult enemies and bosses whilst racing against the ticking timer. Play as Dante, Nero or V in Bloody Palace Mode through multiple levels of enemies and truly test your SSStylish skills.

I did hear they could be considering adding another certain character to the game at some point.

I wouldn't mind seeing Trish and Lady in their own missions. Feels like they could fit right in and add their side of the story.

Yhe game needs more unlockable costumes imo. The ex colour skins are quite meh imo. Seeing the Megaman canon makes me think it would be fun to see some Megaman skins like Megaman, X, Zero etc for Dante, Nero and company.

There's a pretty simple Red Orb farm trick. You can farm 500.000 Red Orbs in literal minutes. Get all the upgrades on the Faust hat, use the gunslinger style, then head to Mission 13, and repeat the section with the 4 Flesh Pods(?) that constantly spawn enemies. Every time all Pods are destroyed, just reload your old checkpoint. You get spawned right back at the entrance and keep all the Orbs you farmed.

I'm pretty disappointed with the lack of unlockable costumes in this game. There are none, with the exception of palette swaps.

if they still have plan's to put this on the switch I'm hoping for samus's blaster as well .

it seem's Nathan told you about the Faust hat thing which most people have been using and why cap com made that hat in the first place.

the other thing I'm looking forward to is the up coming Net flix Devil may cry anime . I'm not sure if it'll be post this event's in 5 or if it'll a retelling of this that was put together detailed of that happen prior to 5 with the voice actor that played Rukia kuski brother.

I do want to know why sparda disappeared though?. may be they can do both. oh I do want to know about this speacial project that producer / director for Castlevana Netflix anime series was talking about with this two franchise crossing over. capcom & konomi. hmmmm.

Bellmonts & Supposedly Redgraves

DEVIL MAY CRY V Director Hideaki Itsuno Was Ready To Leave Capcom After The Launch Of DMC

While many players fell in love with Ninja Theory's take on the Devil May Cry series from the get go, there's no denying that the 2013 slasher was a highly divisive title among gamers. While some appreciated the Cambridge-based studio's design choices and original world building, there were some who vocally criticized the "extra edgy" characterizations of Dante and his villainous brother, Vergil.

According to Reuben Langdon, who has been voicing Dante since 2005's Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (he was replaced by Tim Phillipps in DMC and recently returned in Devil May Cry V), Director Hideaki Itsuno was not a fan of Capcom's decision to reboot the series and Ninja's output.

"He [Itsuno] was ready to leave Capcom, he wasn't happy," Langdon explained in an interview with Toy Bounty Hunters. "I think he put in his resignation and they said “Okay, wait. We know you’re a valuable guy, we don’t want you to leave, what can make you stay?" And he said “alright, I got my wish list,” and Devil May Cry [V] was the top of the list. He said “I’ll stay if you give me Devil May Cryand let me do it the way I want to do it, not the BS stuff you guys did before with the other thing.”

"Hats off to him for standing up and hats off for Capcom for going all out. They literally gave him everything he requested and wanted for this game, and it’s paying off," Langdon added.

Considering that Devil May Cry V is one of the best-reviewed video games of the year (currently sitting at a stylish 87% score on Metacritic), Capcom's willingness to ditch Ninja Theory's controversial ideas was definitely the right call. Be sure to check out the full interview with Langdon down below:

Good for him sticking to his guns. From what I saw of DmC I couldn't stand it. Style and story telling were way off, though I've always thought that Ninja Theory only ever managed to make ok games at best. They also said some things that showed they didn't really care about Devil May Cry in the first place.

Ya know I remember back during the ninja theory days, they constantly said the reason Dante didn't wear his red outfit was because he would be "laughed at" or something along those lines.

And I always thought, "well how about he only wears the outfit while demon hunting you ignorant *****". Is there some rule where Dante can't wear casual clothing?

They really were the worst.

DMC will remain one of the dumbest Capcom decisions for years to come, and that is saying something.

The Ninja Theory devs were definitely a bunch of disrespectful *****ebags. They even tried to take jabs at old Dante, by photoshopping him into a scene of Brokeback Mountain.

Well, guess what Ninja Theory? Old Dante now uses a cowboy hat, with a glorious red scarf, and dances like
Michael mothereffin' Jackson.
And he owns that ****.
