Gotham The Official Gotham News and discussion thread - Part 5

Shane West retweeted GothamHub's tweet where they called him Bane, so I guess that confirms who he's playing.

GothamHub posted this poster (no idea where they got it from or whether it's official or fan made). They also said that season 5 will premiere March 15 too but it's old news (SpoilerTV reported it back in June along with the 10 episodes news), though after that Camren Bicondova and Sid O'Connell both said the show would premiere in January.

At this point I'm more willing to believe it'll premiere in January rather than March.

I don't know why, I thought the show would be back on October.
2019 is too far away .

He's filming the Ace Chemicals episode at the moment. Very interested to see what they do there.

I agree. But i guess it's great that they film all the episodes before the air date. That why production isn't ended after like the airing of 3 or 4 episodes of low ratings.

The season premiere, which will air sometime in early 2019, will take place 87 days, nearly three months after the events of "A Dark Knight: No Man's Land," the Season 4 finale. This gives the city a chance to really exist within the chaos that was created when Jeremiah destroyed the bridges and turned control of Gotham over to its many villains. The premiere will then include another time jump in the form of a flash-forward, 391 days after the onset of No Man's Land.

'Gotham' Star Promises "Action-Packed" Final Season
"Crazy. Yeah. It does, it does ramp up, because you know we kind of fit the meat of 22 episodes into 10 and so you'll see the episodes are crazy action-packed," Mazouz told us. "Like you know it's kind of sad because I always found these to be kind of sweet moments, but we kind of have slimmed down on the scenes, the kind of more quiet scenes between two characters talking about the events of the episode, Sean and I had a lot of those in the kitchen or in the study. Kind of haven't had a lot of those because every second is just filled with action, plot moving the story along, getting the characters where they need to go and I think it will be exhilarating as a viewer to watch. I can't put any of the scripts down."
'Gotham' Season 5 Will Begin With Substantial Time Jump

So, there's a Joker. In Season 5. Jeremiah going even further off the deep end?

John Stephens, who has been the one stating that the Valeska twins are "inspiring" the guy who will become the Joker one day, is directing the Ace Chemicals episode.

Make of that what you will. I'm still sticking to the notion that Jeremiah is Gotham's Joker sans the name. If they kill him off in that episode, the outrage is gonna be insane.

Seriously. I mean, they've sprayed Jeremiah with the laughing gas. He seems himself not only as sane, but very intelligent. May as well go the full nine yards and dump him into the acid, thus furthering him as this show's take on the Joker.

Unless, I dunno, Jerome and Jeremiah had a third unknown brother also played by Cameron Monaghan, which would be a bummer, but given how off the wall this show is...not completely unsurprising.

However, some of Cameron Monaghan's recent comments about Jeremiah are very... intriguing.

'Gotham's Jeremiah Has a Mysterious New Girlfriend in Season 5
"It was interesting in the last season," Monaghan said of his character. "His plan succeeded. He destroyed Gotham. He marooned it. He created his maze and his image and all this stuff, which is rare for any villain to succeed. So I think that he's enjoying that he's king of the roost and he's sort of working within the shadows with a lot of respect and he's sort of the big boogeyman in the city right now. I think he's enjoying that and it's giving him a sense of ego and hubris. He has got a girlfriend now and he's more successful than he's ever been. I think that that level of success is also causing him to lose his sense of equilibrium a little bit. He's a bit more manic and unstable than what we've ever seen him before. I think that what's driving him right now and what his plan and what he's building is, he's always working or building something, is Bruce.

"Bruce is his special project. It's the one thing that's bothering him and nagging him because it's the one thing he didn't succeed at. That's what we see with him now is he's happyish but he's still unsatisfied because he needs to show Bruce how much he loves him, or his twisted version of love."

It's possible he might have changed his mind, or WB actually gained a small degree of a brain and gave them permission to use the Joker character since it's the last season and it wouldn't interfere with the Joaquin Phoenix movie.

Batman Set To Rise In ‘Gotham’ Series Finale – New York Comic Con

Fanboys and fangirls learned today at New York Comic-Con that the fifth and final season fo Fox’s Gotham promises to have plenty of villains (Bane!), a broken back of a beloved butler, and the debut of the Caped Crusader.

In addition to Batman swooping into Gotham, a slew of baddies will be ready to fight the Dark Knight in season 5 including the return of Zsasz, Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, Hugo Strange — and Penguin will have a dog! There will also be some new villains added into the mix including Magpie and the aforementioned Bane played by Shane West — which was a huge announcement to come out of the con.

There has been plenty of speculation that West was playing Bane, a role that Tom Hardy made famous in the Dark Knight Rise. The news was confirmed today. It was also confirmed that there will be a new twist on the Bane origin story. It was also revealed today that Bane will break Alfred’s back this season, a big plot point from the comics.

Season five will see Bruce Wayne have his first real-life encounter with a large swarm of bats and in turn, we will be treated to seeing Batman for the first time in the series finale.

The only news that didn’t come out of today’s panel was the premiere date of the fifth season — guess you’ll have to hang on to your Batarangs for that.

So we are getting Bane too? I never heard of the actor playing him

I wonder for that series finale, with it taking place years later, if that means we see the established characters, but recast for that episode? At least the younger ones, anyway. But then, would that be a waste to recast almost everyone for one episode and it being the final one? Because I think you could get away with having most of the adults remain the same...I guess I'm mostly thinking of the likes of Bruce, Selina, Ivy, and Jeremiah, because you could probably get away with having everyone else reprise their roles for a future set years down the road.

Shane West is a vet actor who's been around since the early 00s basically. His credits include Nikita, League of Extraordinary Gentleman, ER and bunch of other tv and movie credits.

He isn't the first actor who comes to mind when I think of Bane , but then again , neither was Tom Hardy. He's a good actor though, so I'll withhold judgment.

Yeah I looked him up and he doesn’t look like what I’d think for Bane. But like you said Hardy showed me otherwise so I’m gonna wait and see.
