Curious to see Azrael in the mix. I think there are a lot of possibilities with him. If he acts as a costumed vigilante in Gotham City, I could see Bruce looking at his activities and seeing that as an example of who not to emulate in his adult years.

Kind of like with the Balloonman early last season, but more extreme.

I think my main problem with the show was that there were really no good episodes or bad episodes. Every episode had a few good/decent plotlines, but then there would be one that just dragged the whole thing down. That's why I'm glad Fish isn't coming back, because she was really at the center of alot of s*** that just felt unnecessary. First the stuff with Eliza, then being stuck in the Dollmaker's basement for a string of episodes. I really hope s*** has a better flow this year. The episodes that I would consider the best of the series discarded her almost entirely.

You know, I'd really like them to introduce the Grey Ghost into the show. Whether he's a vigilante or an actor, I think it'd be a choice and makes perfect sense.

I stopped watching 3/4ths the way into season 1 and really had no motivation to finish after the horrible reviews I heard about the finale. However, I so badly want this show to be good and want to give it another try if they can get their s*** together. Less camp, and more gritty police drama and you've got me onboard.

Great idea! Co-signed.

Apparently the show has received four Emmy nominations. It must have all been technical ones, as I can't find the show in any of the announced lists.

Yeah, If anything that deserves an emmy, it's the production of this show.

Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary of Fantasy Program (One Hour or More) “Pilot”
Outstanding Costumes for a Contemporary Series, Limited Series or Movie “Under the Knife”
Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series “All Happy Families are Alike”
Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role “Lovecraft”

Of the other comic book shows, The Walking Dead got four nominations, Marvel's Daredevil got three and Constantine, The Flash and Marvel's Agents of SHIELD got one each. All were nominations in the technical categories.

Yeah. The writing and acting thus far have been uneven, but the production design/cinematography/etc. have been top notch.

Jesus, did the kid playing Bruce grow a full foot taller over the past season?

The Emmys dropped the ball on a fifth nomination for Gotham: Best Actress, Erin Richards as Barbara.

Was she? I'm looking on wikipedia and the only appearance in other media they have is Gotham.

This should be her first ever appearance outside the comics. Her initial description, what with the "heart beating with dark intent" and dead parents, actually sounds a bit like a take on Andrea Beaumont.

I'm still hoping they have a well paced plan for Bruce; really, he should be doing some explicit and intensive training this year. We expected Selina to give him more in-depth roof-hopping lessons last season, but we had maybe four or five episodes where he actually had a purpose to his screen time. Maybe he can be used more efficiently if he's got a high society friend showing him how to mask his dark side and a friend in low places to show him how the other half lives.

Exactly yeah, basically this.

After careful consideration, I've decided to give the show another shot. :o

Sophomore season will make or break this show: there was a bit too much inconsistency with Season 1, and you could tell that they were trying out a number of different concepts and ideas. They couldn't decide whether it should be a quirky procedural, a prequel origins show, a serialized mythology, or a twisted version of film noir. Any one of those, or any dedicated and focused fusion of them, could hold a show down with the right creative team. They need to focus on using characters effectively, and a decided style would do that.

If Barbara's supposed to be a prototype-villain, have her every scene either fuel that or contrast against it. If we're supposed to see Bruce's evolution, we should see him developing and practicing his skills. If we're supposed to watch a chess match over Gotham Underworld, we can't have plot detours like Fish's. If we're supposed to see Gordon hollowing out a niche of good cops in a corrupt and growing corrupter precinct, we need to see him and Flass competing.

Michael Chiklis Joins As Series Regular
Gotham is returning Michael Chiklis to his Shield roots, casting the Emmy winner in the series-regular role of Captain Nathaniel Barnes, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Who’s Barnes, exactly? Per Gotham‘s producers, he “lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies – on either side of the law. For Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Barnes is a hero and a mentor, someone with whom he can share the burden of heroism. Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon… but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy.”
:eek::up:

Wonder what that means for Essen, though.

the more this show focuses on Bruce and Selina and Bruce training to become you know who.......the better.

I echo the sentiment that Season 1 felt all over the place. and I hated what they did to Selina in the last episode.
