Gotham The Official Gotham News and discussion thread - Part 5

So Batman will appear. Questions are: how will they do it, is the 10 year jump at the very end of the finale or is it the finale, and will it be a worthy ending?

They probably would've been introduced had Fox not given them only 10 episodes to wrap up the show.

I look forward to the insanity.

Apparently the batsuit will look like a metallic version of the Rises suit with shorter ears according the showrunner.
Was hoping maybe for a comic like costume I guess I'll take it

So I guess that rumor about them reusing the Begins suit was false.

I really hope Gotham gets a sequel comic series showing what the city is like ten years later in more detail.

Where was this said?

Could look pretty good. I sorta picture the Arkham Knight batsuit but on the Dark Knight suit. Could someone make a manip of the Nolan Dark Knight suit with those changes?

The latter it seems.

Really? Confirmed? I guess if true, at least Gotham will have something Smallville didn't. Then again it could be the opposite of both shows: Smallville gave us a Clark Kent who did Superman things when he wasn't Superman until the very end, while Gotham gave us a Bruce Wayne who wasn't Batman who did Batman things until the very end.

I have Thomas McDonell in mind for Bruce and Shelley Hennig for Selina.

Thomas McDonell is literally the same height as David though.

If they decide to recast why not choose the actor whose physical build causes least "controversial"?

I figured that Bruce is 18 in the show they've said, so it'd be kinda weird for him to grow 3-4 more inches to me. Maybe he can wear lifts though?

With the DC Universe now being a thing and Fox slowly shifting, the DC Universe really does feel like the ideal spot for Gotham to continue, particular with the tone its established over its four seasons. It's practically an Elseworlds tale, so it wouldn't even interfere with the other live-action programs.

Definitely!

When is the 10 year time jump supposed to happen exactly?
I know it’ll be in the last episode but do we know if it’s supposed to be at the very end?

From the way Stephens worded it, the entire episode is a time jump.

Sounds good to me.

If that is true, it could be backdoor pilot for an actual Batman tv series - and they would have a huge head start as they already have the origin stories of most of his villains.

Where can I find what he said?

It would be amazing if it was the whole episode

Gotham producer teases time jump Bat-suit will have a Dark Knight Rises vibe

“I think it’s more matte,” Stephens said. “It’s inspired by, if I had to compare to any one costume, I’d say it’s closer to The Dark Knight Rises. It’s a little more metallic Bat battle-y looking rather than something like the Suicide one or the Affleck one.”

Oh, “and we went with short ears,” Stephens added. So more Adam West than Arkham Knight. But aside from the costume’s specifics, the very nature of the reveal has caused plenty of stress for the team. Stephens says they’ve found themselves asking, “How much money can we allocate towards spending on this costume because it’s got to look good. Because you don’t want to spend five years, and all of a sudden go ‘great episode but that was a really crappy looking costume’.”

Oof... The cast doing the table read for episode 9 (Sean Pertwee's instagram). Only one more to go... they'll probably wrap filming for season 5 some time in November/early December.

Man, I'm going to miss this cast and this completely bonkers, fun show. The final season deserved more than 10 episodes. I'm really surprised WB didn't push hard to get it to the 100 episode mark.
