Gamma rays are green if I´m not misstaken. Atleast in the comic world.

Gamma rays actually have no color (as defined by the human experience), since they vibrate at the high end of the electromagnetic spectrum far beyond visible light.

Also, I echo what everyone has said about Hulk's pigmentation ("it just is") and would even add that the emerald coloring might help suspend disbelief. I think a flesh-colored Hulk falls smack into the Uncanny Valley since we all know what a peach-toned human looks like. Instead of being in awe or just going with it, our subconscious would be calling bulls**t from frame one.

I've always been interested in seeing a grey Hulk on screen.

I think any color but flesh-toned would work, honestly.

Funny though, I remember a featurette for Hulk '03 where I believe someone involved in CG mentioned how green is the most unnatural color to shade a character and tricky it was to find the right shade, but it just looks wrong to the naked eye. Don't know if I'm "misremembering" that or not, but, I still think a green giant is easier to accept visually than a flesh-colored one.

Which why that portion of the character very much needed to be re-invented or tweaked sometime ago ...

Small elements to all characters have been refined over time to make more sense, and become the basic finalized version we know them to be.

Hulk being grey or green has never made a lick of sense.

You do realise this is a comic yeah? Its fantasy, no one can actually change into a huge monster. Why is spiderman's costume red and blue? Why does wolverine where a yellow one? Thats their look, hulk is gren because hulk is green period. To ask why he has to be is the lamest question I've seen on this forum in a while. The mind boggles.

The front page can be such a joke.

"Hey guys, you know the Hulk isn't real, right?" No, dude, I totally thought they were painting big guys green every time a movie rolled around.

Of course but how many people do you know that walk around straight all the time it's not normal.
He is just hunched over in an action pose.

It's also not normal to be the much hunched over all the time but there you go.

Seriously? It adds to his monstrousness, if he wasn't green he'd just be 'giant strong man'. Anyway, it's comics, it doesn't have to make sense beyond 'Stan Lee thought it would be cool'

Or 'the printing machine guy thought it would be cool.' :yay:

Btw, people:

Just getting out of "The Avengers" world premiere. Thought the film was major. LOT of action, laughs and surprises. Hulk stole the show.

Also, the two things that made #THEAVENGERS amazing: the Hulk and the humor. Joss Whedon gets a 10 out of 10 on both of those.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Now I'm doubly excited.

The Hulk seems to be getting the most mentions so far from those on Twitter. Sounds like Whedon delivered on the best film Hulk to date.

And more:

With @avengers Joss Whedon finally made a great Hulk. He should be proud.

Yeah Hulk was looking like a show stealer for a while now. He was the one I've been most excited about and I'm glad that Hulk mania has spread like wildfire.

I'm crossing my fingers this will be enough of a boost in popularity to grant him another chance at a movie. This time with Ruffalo, ILM and a director on Whedon's level.

Hulk seems to have stolen the show. I wonder if Marvel will consider giving him another solo film.

Oh yeah...Hulk is...amazing in this movie. He steals the film.

He's just...ugh, so great.

Man, i read your post at the avengers news thread, and I couldn't get more excited about this movie (and Hulk!). Gotta post it here:

1 - It felt like a different studio took over Marvel (maybe Disney...??) and decided to start making movies.

2 - If you loved Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men, just substitute the Avengers and put them on film.

3 - Hulk is the new Iron Man in terms of general audience fandom.

4 - DO NOT let people ruin moments. This movie rides on classic movie moments that you will be talking about at the water cooler for DAYS afterward

5 - Hulk

6 - Whedon--SMASH!

7 - I don't know. I'm like...just really surprised it was as good as it was.

I've been right now at the World Premiere of Avengers!! It's amazing. Keep that in mind: "Hulk smash!"

The only people that will call BS over the gamma ray thing will be people that actually know a lot about radiation. Most people don't. Plus this is all pure fantasy. Remember Ironman 1. A tank shot him out of the sky. The people in the Army that actually work with tanks called BS because they know how difficult it would be to make a shot like that on a tiny flying target (nearly impossible) but the GA just ate it up an never noticed it.

I'm a physicist and I couldn't care less about Gamma radiation being green in the MU. These are comics created in the 60's after all!
Also, grey/green skin is damn cool, so who cares?
