Hulk with grey hair and stubble - What's this, Next Avengers?

joking!!!

Would have preferred Hulk not to look like a rough, pumped up green Ruffalo though.

I still think that the Hulk is going to need to be pushed to his breaking point in this film in order for the threat that Loki and his army presents to be entirely credible since if the Hulk is presented as truly being unstoppable, without being capable of getting inflicted with some serious damage, than he ends up becoming a "deus ex machina" where a person would just have to go: "No matter what dangers the rest of the team goes through, they just have to hold up for the Hulk to come in on time and save them"...etc.

Same here, I know everybody is "estactic" with Hulk looking like Ruffalo but I would've preferred if the Hulk looked more like his own person.

That is kinda how they've been playing him up in the trailers and tv spots though, so I really wouldn't be suprised.

I don't think you understand the idea behind the hulk. The hulk always operates at his breaking point and his breaking point moves as he pushes him self harder and harder. The Hulk is going to get beat up in the Avengers and its going to force him to push harder and harder. When we get to see the Hulk go completely berserk on the aliens the situation will call for it.

It wont just be send in the Hulk.... the end. It will be the teams being overwhelming and the battle looks lost and then the The Hulk goes ape *** on the aliens.

Edit: I'm gonna re-post this when this thread is more active.

I can understand and appreciate that. If anything, my worries is that they'll just show a Hulk who isn't capable of being put in a bad predicament.

As strong as the Hulk was in EMH's, there were times where he took in a big a whooping as well.

I guess if anything, as powerful as I know the Hulk is and should be portrayed as, I'm hoping that they don't establish the Hulk as someone who, if he was pissed off enough, could have defeated Loki's entire army on his own.

EMH really hit the right notes with their Hulk, he's was powerful as hell but he also took a beating and wasn't the "unbeatable" Hulk that stomps everyone.

Agreed; heck, I'd argue that EMH's portrayal of the Hulk should be used as a template for how creators go into portraying the Hulk for future franchises and media outlets.

Yeah it really shouldn't even be debatable, I don't even think The Avengers Hulk is going to be as good of a portrayal.

EMH's Thor is probably my favorite animated version of the character, but I might even go so far as to say Hulk's portrayal in the show is better.

^That's how you KNOW EMH's Hulk is something special.

You know I really don't mind TA Hulk looking like Ruffalo since Ruffalo already has hulk-like features imo.

this. if ruffalo wasn't playing banner and hulk still looked exactly as he does, i wouldn't mind at all because he looks so perfect. to me its more of a case that ruffalo just so happens to look like the hulk.

I still never understand when people say this. First, as others pointed out and as I said when he was cast, Ruffalo does have semblance to certain artistic renditions of Hulk.

Second, especially in live action, it helps with the illusion of it being real. Even though you can see Ruffalo there, this Hulk is still 1000x more bestial looking than TIH version, who, while not resembling Norton, looked more human in his face than Ang's or TA versions.

Third, and some tried to debate this, but the best Hulk artist IMO, Sal Buscema, did have a slight resemblance between his Hulk/Banner. Hell even Bixby resembles Ferrigno with partial makeup in between transformations.

And finally, its just that, a transformation. As much as some people seemingly want Banner completely banished from the Hulk for some odd reason, they're one and the same. They share the same body, same skull & skeleton, who else is he supposed to look like, himself? There's no such thing as the Hulk "himself."

Compare TIH hulk to the avengers hulk.
One looks like a scifi channel movie.

When I 1st read this I immediately though 'that's harsh' but the more I think of it, you're right. TIH's Hulk design may have been brilliant but the execution left a lot to be desired.

Someone is obviously not reading the current Incredible Hulk series by Jason Aaron. :cwink:

Artists draw him differently because it's a cartoon medium. In real life, it wouldn't work like that.

I think one thing that comes a long way to selling Ruffalo as a better presence than the previous actors is that he's playing both roles. It's very obvious by how much weight the motion capture gave the animation this time around that it was the best decision they could ever make.

In the last movie a main issue I had was how weightless and thus unreal and cartoon like the Hulk came across. Here even in the facial emotions (screaming, smiling) you can see that it's all Mark; because of this the animation is so expressive that it really sells the illusion that the Hulk is really there.

That's because it sucks, lol.

Ha ha ha I was waiting for someone to say this. I love Aaron's work otherwise but I could only take 2 issues of that **** before I dropped it altogether. Made me miss Pak more than I would've if the writing had actually been up to par.

Does anyone get the impression that this Hulk (Avengers one) is shown to be lot more powerful than Hulk in TIH ?

Yeah. Super jumps are intact, and while getting hit with bullets would make Hulk flinch in TIH, getting hit with entire alien spacecrafts don't make him bat an eyelash.

I doubt the other hulk would have worked In this movie(nortons hulk) so I think it is cool that it's ruffalo playing a newer better version.

I noticed an am very happy about that. The problem i have with TIH is that Hulk didn't feel like hulk. It seemed he had strength proportionate to his size. Plus he wasn't savage and wild until the chocking scene. I liked the movie, but the short clips of the Avengers Hulk we've seen so far blows away the Hulk from TIH.
