I was actually looking for the below EW Magazine cover , when i ran across the two above pics in my photobucket album. Compare the pic of Hulk here, to the one on the cover of POST, and you have to think to yourself, 'What the hell were they thinking when they decided that pic of Hulk was a agreat cover pic to promote the movie..?" :rolleyes

Angs Hulk looks really deformed there. I really like him but that's not a flattering pic of him.

Yeah, there was a huge "What the?" on the Hulk boards back when that came out.

I still love that TIH concept.

Ang Hulk looks like a big cry baby there.

I can confidently say that the EW magazine cover, along with the superbowl trailer killed this franchise. The bad WOM was just the nail in the coffin. TIH has suffered misrerably for it ever since.... :(

That's so not true. Ang's Hulk failed because it was a terrible movie and got bad word of mouth. It had good opening weekend number. It's just that when people saw it they started telling other not to go see it. I personally didn't even go to see the Hulk in theaters on that Saturday. My friend saw it on Friday and told me not to go see it because its was boring. I didn't see Hulk until it was on HBO/Showtime. (Did the same thing with Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance)

Not true. The negative impression for this movie started back in Jan/Feb of 2003 with the superbowl trailer. It made 60 someting million it's first weekend which is very meh, compared to what Spider-Man made just a year earlier. Let's not forget that Hulk is Marvels second biggest character after Spider-Man. The prediction for Hulks opening weekend was sopposed to be around 80 million.

You actaully just helped my point by stating that bad WOM killed it, so the b.o was NOT good.

It was NOT a bad movie, it was just a bad Hulk movie and deceived the general public with it's advertising.

I don't know if the Hulk is still Marvel's second biggest character. It's probably Iron Man or Wolverine now. However, the recent Hulk in the Avengers has helped him climb back up the status ladder.

I still think he is, always has been. Not within the world of cinema of course, but in other mediums, his recognizablity still far exceeds IM and Wolverine, world wide.

I hope that when the DVD comes out that we get to find out a little more as to which scenes in the film did they use Mark's motion capturing performance for the Hulk versus scenes where the Hulk shown is completely CGI. For the life of me, I have a hard time trying to figure out as to which scenes in the film featuring the Hulk would have been possible for Mark to film using that mo-cap suit.lol

It's funny that Mark (to my knowledge) was never in any of the NY set pics.

Well based on a interview that was done for the cast in the ET magazine that came out last year, we know that he was there to film some scenes as Hulk because he mentions on how he had asked Joss as to how he wanted the Hulk to drop Tony down onto the ground after catching him in the air; that along with his comments on how he said that he felt like the odd one out when being in scenes with the entire crew in their nice outfits versus his own mo-cap suit.lol

At least he doesn't look like he's made of rubber or some synthetic flesh/ paste material like Ang Lee's Hulk.

Or like a plastic action figure ala TIH.

I still don't get these reactions. I thought Hulk looked great in both movies. There was still room for improvement, but I watch those on a yearly basis.

He was definitely onset there. Henlmsworth was saying there was one take where Cap says "don't you think it's time to get angry" and Ruffalo just looked back at them and said "Raaargh!" and then ran into a car and fell over. Was wearing the mo-cap suit also IIRC.

According to one of the ILM guys they had a reference take from Ruffalo for every scene though as you say some stuff that couldn't be humanly acted out was key framed and not taken from the mo-cap.

I think the CGI for Ang's Hulk is vastly superior. It's ILM after all. I can understand people not liking the design, but the CGI was amazing. The skin texture and animation for the muscles was brilliant.

The CGI in TIH was horrendous at parts. For a 150 million dollar movie made in 2008 it's kinda unacceptable. And i hated the design. It looked like he was constantly flexing and straining. Too much sinew and his skin looked like it was paper thin. He was like a Rob Liefeld drawing with all this unnecessary lines.

I personally hated Ang Lee's Hulk design, but loved Letterrier's TIH design a great deal more. I do think they over did it with the ridiculously ripped muscle look though.

For me, it always like this this;lol:

1. I loved the effects used to create Ang's Hulk, but hated the character's design

2. When I think about it now, I enjoyed the look that Lou's Hulk had in face alone, everything else..bleh.

In a lot of ways, it feels like Joss's Hulk has taken the best of both versions while adding his own touch and negating any of the negative parts from the previous versions. (Not too tall, not too built, and looking a hell of a lot more real, etc)

Ruffalulk has definitely become my favorite now.

Indeed; plus, while he may not have had as many words as his predecessors, it was just his mannerisms and the way he carried himself that made him more lively than his two past counterparts on the big screen.

To be fair, I thought they all showed a little personality. In fact Ang's Hulk had many moments too that made me smirk. What made the Avengers Hulk the best is that you get a real sense that he knows what he's doing. I hated in TIH that Hulk didn't seem to understand a thunderstorm.

I still thirst to see Hulk in all his glory...talking trash and putting people in their place with words as much as his might.
