Also, in my opinion the funniest scene in the movie involved Hulk, but it wasn't the sucker punch, or the Loki part, it was after he tore apart the jet, the jet blew up, and then there was a zoomed out view of it blowing up, and Hulk just falling off of it, and as he is falling in this view, you hear him roaring, like a dinosaur "ruhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and out of sight, that scene, and the fact that, THAT was his exit from the helicarrier sequence, had me in absolute tears. Him falling away and that moaning roar absolutely killed me. Me and my friend were laughing for a good 2 minutes straight at that scene.

Did anyone else but me find that funny? lol
Oh yes, that was hilarious. It was all about the choice of camera angle that made it funny, too. And the roar, of course.

I've watched the movie 3 times and LOL at that bit every time but no one else does, must need a selected sense of humour :oldrazz:.

It was definitely one of the more humorous parts, because it was a very comic book-ish thing to happen. He just didn't give a **** about how he was going to survive the fall, he just wanted to get at that jet. I think that was Whedon's little stab at the similar thing happening in '03 Hulk where he kind of saves the pilot.

That, and the fact that Hulk lost his pants in the fall to ground, naked and falling from the sky.

Only to "scare the hell out of some pigeons".:oldrazz:

Kind of unfair to compare a screen shot from the first movie with a promotional image.

The part that had me cracking up was when Hulk was smashing the jet and the pilot tried to eject. The Hulk grab him before he could make it away and threw him. As soon as the Hulk grabed him the crowed went wild because no one expected it. It was like an out of the blue last minute kind of grab.

The new commercials calling it a worldwide smash hit are now featuring that now classic scene between Thor and Hulk after that crash land.

Honestly, I think a fresh, armed Loki who isn't on the verge of villainous breakdown would do fine against the Hulk. He manages to fight evenly-ish with Thor, after all, who similarly does fine against the Hulk. Granted, there would be a lot less tanking hits, and a lot more defensive illusions, but I can see Loki holding his own. Granted, he'd need a weapon if he wants to actually *harm* the Hulk, as opposed to screwing with his head and sending him somewhere else or whatnot.

To be honest, I thought the Hulk looked slightly less impressive than I thought he would. He's definitely more consistent than either of the previous films, and the best shots are really great. But he still didn't look as integrated in his surroundings at certain times like he did in Ang's film. In particular when he tries to lift the hammer, when he's standing with the rest of the group around IM near the end, or even when he first enters the room to confront Loki. No doubt this is the best visual representation yet, but I firmly believe the best shots in the '03 movie are still on par with the best shots of this film, and I didn't think that would happen.

Did anyone else get a Sal Buscema vibe from Hulk in this ?

In terms of look I felt it resembled Pagulayan and Kirby's the most.

I could see Kirby in the brow and face a bit, Pagulayan in the body shape and Buscema in the occasional ape like movements.

Has this been posted?

The disconnect for people seems to be in that Bruce Banner Hulks out twice in the film with very different outcomes. The first time he turns into 'The Other Guy' it's on the SHIELD Helicarrier, and he's a rampaging monster who is trying to kill his own teammates. The second time he changes he's in New York City fighting the Chitauri and he's so in control that he even takes commands from Captain America. The film never has anyone really stand up and explain the difference, but it's all there in the movie.
The key is to understand that the circumstances of the two changes are drastically different. The first time Banner - and the rest of the Avengers - has been brought to the boiling point by Loki's staff. Everybody is ready to fight and tempers are short. When an explosion demolishes the lab and sends Banner and Black Widow tumbling into the lower decks, our heroic scientist is already at the end of his rope. Banner, who has been mysteriously holding it together for over a year, has lost control due to magic and injury. That means the Hulk that emerges is an uncontrolled force, a blindly smashing beast that is lashing out at any and everything. It's the version of the Hulk we've already seen - a rage monster.
But the circumstances of the second Hulk out are totally different. Banner, fully in control, explains his secret method of dealing with the Hulk - he's always angry. Film Crit Hulk talked about this in his excellent New Yorker piece today, where he said:
FOR YEARS, BANNER BATTLED HIS OWN MIND AND MERELY TURNED OUT THAT FEAR OF HIS OWN ANGER WAS A TRAP. REALLY, HE HAD TO UNDERSTAND IT. TO RECOGNIZE IT AND ACCEPT IT. AND THAT’S PRECISELY WHAT BROUGHT GENUINE CONTROL.
This is the key. Banner is no longer trying to repress his rage. He accepts it and uses it, channels it. That means when he needs it - like when the Chitauri are demolishing New York City - it's there for him to direct in the right way. Anger doesn't have to be formless and without target. It can be used wisely, even constructively. It's what powers social revolutions and what leads people to fight injustice. Anger, Johnny Rotten once said, is an energy.
But it can be a dangerous energy, one that is easy to misuse and which can become uncontrollable. That's what happened in the first Hulk out.
So it's simple, and it's all in the movie. And it's a great direction for the cinematic Hulk.

So now that IM, Thor and Cap are getting sequels and already have directors attached to them, wouldn't it be wise for Marvel to let Whedon direct a TIH 2 inbetween now and Avengers 2..?

Um...you don't you think thats a little selfish?

How about we give the guy a break? I'd say he deserves one...

The funniest thing is that Loki was a changed god after he took that beat down.

He didn't try to escape or plot, he was ready to go home to Asgard.

Now that's a proper ass whooping.

Yeah I'd have whedon write a script if anything. But I think with the right writers whedon wouldn't even be needed. And there is a good handfull of directors that could probably handle hulk correctly.
