I actually adore Hero by Nickelback from the credits of the first movie. So good! I was so obsessed with these as a kid. Loved them!

I really live nickleback. Hero is definitely my favorite song from them.

I don't understand why people dunst is a bad MJ. I mean she seem to did an incredible job portraying a normal everyday girl with some struggles in her life. Sure dunst would've been better as 616 MJ but she still did a great job.

I just picked up Spider-Man 1 and 2 on Blu-ray and the SM2 comes with the extended version, so I'm super psyched. :woot:

Enjoy them. They're great. Transfer to HD looks brilliant, especially with Spider-Man 2.

Thanks, I will! :woot:

I have no doubt that Spider-Man 2 will look great, especially since it still holds up on DVD too. The only one that I'm concerned about is SM1... it hasn't aged too good. :oldrazz:

Spider-Man 2002 actually looks really good. There's no scenes that look terrible in HD. But there's none that look as beautiful as some of Spider-Man 2's best either.

SM1 has one bad CGI scene, and that's Peter crawling on the wall in his wrestler's outfit. Outside of that, it's gorgeous.

Yeah I always noticed that scene being really bad. It's like you're watching a video game for that scene.

there was also bad cgi scenes like peter walking building to building, jumping from balloon to balloon, the goblin flying in the thanksgiving scene, and maybe the bridge scene

The CGI in all those scenes looked great. I agree with A Necessary Evil, only that wall crawling scene in the wrestling costume looks stand out bad.

Ah man... SM1 looks like a 2008 movie right now. Brilliant HD conversion.

And I agree, that's the only scene that really stands out.

I haven't actually watched them in ages. I'll need to give them a watch again :)

I haven't done a trilogy marathon in months either. I sometimes watch some of my favourite scenes on YouTube.

I think I do a trilogy marathon every 3 months... I just can't get enough of these movie.

You know,I love these movies. All three mean so much to me. I honesty even felt that way when they first came out. It does make me wonder though if nostagia plays a part in how people view them today? I'll admit that it has for me. I mean,as much as I loved the trilogy before, looking back now I adore them even more. I miss what event pictures they were for me. No other series of films has gotten me feeling more like a little kid than Raimi's series. And...I'm not trying to start anything here, but that includes the new ASM movies.

So... since I've finished watching the first one again, I thought I'd just post my review. :D

Spider-Man (2002)

The first movie in Sam Raimi’s much loved trilogy, it’s a joy ride from start to finish. The nerdy, shy Peter Parker gains superpowers and immediately uses them to make money to impress the woman his likes. However, his selfishness causes the death of his Uncle, making him take a very different path.
With Maguire and Dunst giving good performances and a pretty believable love story, and an insane performance from Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin, this movie is an entertaining one with a basic yet fun story with decent writing and great SFX. While there are many flaws with it, it’s still a great start to the Spider-Man franchise.

Nice mini review, Miles

I hope you do one for 2 and 3 as well.

My review for SM2! :woot:

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

The second installment of Sam Raimi's trilogy, this movie is possibly the greatest of them all. A well crafted story with multiple connected plots, it adapts a well known story (Spider-Man No More) yet manages to tell it's own. Peter Parker is struggling with his personal life. He's having money troubles, his best friend's obsession with revenge is destroying their relationship and the love of his life is getting married. To make matters worse, not only is he losing his powers, but he must face a new enemy: The genius yet dangerous, Doctor Octopus.

Tobey Maguire's performance in this movie is a massive step up from his previous one, and he makes it so we can tell how his character is feeling and helps us believe that this person is real. Kirsten Dunst however, is one of the weaker parts of this movie. She comes off as *****y and unrealistic, however this does not hinder the movie. James Franco has improved, going from a decent performance in Spider-Man 1, to a brilliant showcase of emotion and personal growth as we see his character gradually grow more obsessed with his need for revenge, and how shocked he is to find out that his best friend is the man he hates... and his reaction to the truth about his father. Alfred Molina's performance as Doc Ock is brilliant, as he plays a man who is passionate about his life's work, and how it drives him to villainy when it fails and his wife is killed. We feel his pain and we can follow his journey from well meaning person, to evil villain and his redemption in the end.

Final thoughts: With a brilliant story, great acting and SPECTACULAR SFX, this movie is timeless and is up there with the greatest of movies.

Excellent review. Hands down the best Spidey movie of them all :spidey::otto:

Thanks UWH, Joker. :woot:

Yeah, this time I was just shocked... I don't remember loving SM2 this much. It's just cinematic perfection. It's right up there with Empire Strikes Back and (dare I say it) The Godfather! :wow:

Anyway, on to Spider-Man 3.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

The third and final installment of Sam Raimi's trilogy, this movie is a disappointing end to this wonderful series. It tries to juggle three villains: Sandman, New Goblin and Venom... and does well to an extent. However, Hayden-Church's wooden performance stops the well written Sandman story from being one of the greater ones in this trilogy. New Goblin (ugh) had so much potential. After being built up for 3 movies, the pay off isn't very satisfying. 2 short fights and a pointless amnesia plot device hinders this particular subplot, however James Franco's performance and redemption at the end stop it from being a total wreck. Venom was weak, weak motivation with a horrible performance from Topher.

The main actors, Maguire and Dunst, were fine. Nothing too bad (except for that dancing scene).

Final thoughts: Decent story, decent writing. Spider-Man 3 is a disappointing but alright ending to the series as it provides some closure, yet fails to deliver an amazing movie.

Don't forget that Bruce Dallas Howard was terrible as Gwen Stacey and and served no purpose
