I'm not saying everyone is like that, but I still feel that it's being hyped beyond measure. There does seem to be a whiff of desperation when you read the Homecoming boards. It is what it is... but I feel Holland/Watts has a better movie in them. I still long for the days of Raimi when we had a director of vision and not a studio puppet.

Anyway, you're right. No point falling out over it. I'll be heading down to Dublin tomorrow to meet Kevin Conroy so I can't even be mad... too excited.

Well to be fair, I felt the same about Wonder Woman, especially when people started calling it a ground breaker in the genre. Or the first female centric superhero movie (when it factually isn't) etc. There was a whiff of desperation to put it on a huge pedestal after the previous DCEU entries were so weak. So I can see where you're coming from there.

I'm meeting him Conroy Saturday. Be my second time meeting him. He was in Dublin back in 2014 as well. He's awesome. Make sure you get a photo with him. Have a blast.

A desperate combination of needing anything better than those Amazing movies and refusing to acknowledge a MARVEL product as something less than stellar.

Without Keaton and Holland, it doesn't amount to much at all.

Perfectly said, agreed on all points.
I actually prefer Amazing, didn't want a new movie to wash any kind of taste I had with those, which is mostly pleasant.

I actually prefer Amazing as well. You mean the first one yes? Or do you mean both TASM 1&2 together.

The first Amazing movie grew on me a lot, I wouldn't say HC was far superior to that one.

So Tobey Maguire injured his back filming Seabiscuit and they nodded to that in Spider-Man 2, I wonder if there are other scenes that were done to reflect on something in one actor or another's life and career along with this trilogy.
I've only watched Homecoming once, but I kind of agree in that I prefer them as well.
Good to know I'm not the only one with an unusual opinion. :)

There's negatives about the ASM films for me, in particular ASM2. But there is a lot I enjoy in them. And I just think they're both better than Homecoming. Granted I have only seen Homecoming once, but it really didn't do much for me. Like I said the more I think about it the more it disappoints me. The more my ranking for it amongst the Spidey films falls, my score for it falls, and I think it's one of the MCU's weakest.

I agree that they have notable flaws, I wish they were ironed out before working turning the scripts to film.

Yeah notable flaws, but still enjoyable for me. I think they did some things very well actually, even some things better than the Raimi films. For example the relationship between Gwen and Peter in both films was better than MJ and Pete in 3. And obviously way better than Peter and Liz. Gwen's death was so impactful to me because of how well done it was.

You know it

This guy and his father are my favorite antagonists in the trilogy, and in his case, I can understand why the guy saved his friend by standing in front of the hazard aimed at him instead of simply pushing him away.

Yeah the Harry and Norman stuff was handled very well over the trilogy. As opposed to TASM films.

You will see nothing but agreement from me on this.

I love the reason Dafoe's Norman chose to antagonize Spider-Man, feels natural to me. Rooftop speech stand out to me very well, you got the same thing Joker told Batman in the interrogation scene in TDK "To them, we're both freaks", with a fun and charmingly balanced cartoony attitude that did not cancel the menacing presence of the Goblin.

Definitely dude. Man, I haven't seen SM1 in so long. I'm gonna do a re-watch of the trilogy maybe sometime this coming week I think. One day just do all 3. Been a while.

If I get around to it I'll definitely let you know dude

I re-watched SM 1 just before seeing HC, was the first time watching it in a few years and I still enjoyed the hell out of it. Enjoy.

I think it's the kind of pickup I need after watching Homecoming.
