Anyone else want to see more wisecracks in the reboot? I mean, it doesn't ruin the film for me, but I loved that "smart ass superhero" aspect in the Spider-Man comics.
Since many found the movies with less wisecracking cheezy, I would love to see the wisecracker from the comics hit it hard

The wisecracks are in the movie. No need to worry. People who saw footage at SDCC confirmed this.

It's super hard for me to choose. :o

There are things in all three of them I really dig and bring back great memories. But, if you had to force me to choose, I'd say Spider-Man 1. Mostly because Green Goblin is my favorite, and that was the first major Spidey movie and it was so exciting. Plus, it was all new. By the time 3 came out, we had seen Spidey two times before you know? When the first one came out it was just like, super exciting just for that reason alone.
That's the beauty of firsts in a series.

Plus, SM1 had this.

That is one of my favorite movie final fights. I loved the fights in SM2 and SM3, but it was unfortunate they didn't get that brutal. Put headphones on and turn the volume up when Goblin is beating Spidey, it's painful to listen to and I like that.

If I had to choose (and normally I just love the trilogy as a whole), I'd choose Spider-Man 1. Like it was in my former question, in special consideration of the ending.
I really love how he becomes Spider-Man and the moments he just could become a villain nerd. Talks with MJ in the front yard etcetera.
But what makes the ending so epic? I think it's so great because it has a bittersweet ending for Peter.
The funeral of his best friend's dad, rebuffing the girl he loves because he's Spider-Man. That feeling, it's just the beginning of more and more personal problems due to his secrets and so on. And then that great track! Fits perfect and emphasize the epicness of the whole movie and its ending.

Another reason why SM1 is my favorite. Best ending to me.
Watching that swing scene alone reminds me why I'm a Spidey fan for the most part.

 you just visualized what I feel about that track.

S-M1 wins for me, because if they never had made sequels, this part could have easily stand by its own. With no real happy end and enough stuff to keeps one wonder what may be.
And like webhead731 said, it's the first...

Well fortunately, I'm not forced to choose :whatever: and I'm really glad to put S-M2 into the player just right after I watched part one.:woot:

Godzilla, I can take or leave a lot of wisecracks, tbh. I loved them in the comics, but film is different and it may take away from the tension of the fight scenes. That's why I had no problem with the amount of wisecracks we got in Riami's films. Could more work? we'll just have to wait and see.

Well, from what we've heard... they work.

I honestly think that Raimi's Spider-Man wouldn't have worked if he was a motormouth (the few he said were cool though.), this one seems to suit it more.

That whole "It may take away from the tension" argument is pretty silly. Take TSSM for example, Spidey never shut up in that... and were the battles any worse, or lessened by that? Nope. Now picture exactly that, in live action.

I honestly think it depends on the actor portraying Spidey, and what era Spidey is being channeled.

^^ But it worked greatly in TSSM because it was animation. Movies are quite different if you think about it. Would the train scene have worked if Spidey wisecracked a bunch?

We'll see on July 3rd, 2012, I guess.

The train scene in Spider-Man 2? Of course not, as I said... it's dependant on which era Spidey it's supposed to be, and the actor playing him.

And of course, the situation at hand.

And yup. I hope we get at least one quip in the trailer, I feel as though the next one should be a little lighthearted, but then again... I want to see the fricking Lizard in the trailer too.

I think most of the epic battles we got in the Rammi trilogy involved Spidey being way too pissed off to make wisecracks.

i would ask myself how could Doc Ock hear him while fighting on top of a speeding train

^^ Another logical reason.

In the comics, some times when Spidey was in a very very tough battle, he'd be pretty damn serious.

One of my favorite moments in any Spidey story ever is from Kraven's Last Hunt when Peter goes down into the sewers to hunt Vermin and during the entire scene all he can think about is how desperately he just wants to go home and be with his wife.

^^ I remember that perfectly, and it really is quite an interesting scene. Spidey actually seemed scared a little, which shows he's human.

It really struck a chord with me how human he was during that whole series. Because, I know, that if I was in Spidey's spot, I would want the exact same thing. That's what makes him human. But what makes him a hero is that he ignores that and does what he has to anyways.

I remember back in Venom's first few appearances, he scared the **** out of Spidey. He was considering telling Mary Jane and Aunt May to go on a vacation once to get them out of harm's way.

I remember that. I liked that because, let's face it...Venom is one scary looking creature! Who wouldn't be creeped out facing off against him??!!

Btw,I never minded at all the lack of wisecracks in Raimi's films. Like alot of you have mentioned,it would really take away from the drama and the film and the fights,if he was cracking jokes all the time. Things like that work better in cartoons and comics, but no so much in the movies.

I remember that was a big selling point about this reboot, that people were saying,"Yes! We are getting a funny Spider-man!!" But,to be honest I wasn't really hoping for that on the big screen. A wisecrack here and there is fine by me,but I don't want anything over the top.

I think those who are against, or not looking forward to the wisecracking Spider-Man can sleep easy. We know that he works, pretty much everyone who has seen the CC footage has praised EVERY aspect of it. Emma and Andrew's chemistry, the effects, the wisecracks, etc.

I doubt he's going to start wisecracking when the Lizard is about to tear an innocent man apart, so what are we worried about? :)

Why? Why does it not suck the tension from fights in the comics and cartoons, but just in the movies?

Agreed actually. Plus there were alot of wise cracks in the trilogy.

Take the scene where Spidey and Ock are battling on the building and Spidey is trying to get to Aunt May before she falls off the ledge. There's a beautiful shot of Spidey and Ock battling in free fall as they traverse the building. In a comic book, this shot, or panel, would be a perfect place for a Spidey/Ock dialogue, as it can take as long as necessary in the time frame of the panel. In the movie, a lot of the places where they could have fit Spidey's wisecracks into the action would have felt awful forced, so I'm glad they didn't and kept it as it is. Because every time Spidey DID make a smart-ass comment, I giggled inside like a girl scout who just found out she sold the most cookies.
(but yes, i do wish they had stuck a few extra ones here and there)

Yeah especially when a loved one was in peril. I felt smartass comments could have taken away a bit. Like, he's not taking the situation there too seriously when his love is almost near death, you know?
