Venom is a unique villain, and he's one of my favorites among Spider-Man's rogues gallery, but I can understand if he doesn't appear. He's one of the most truly lethal among Spider-Man's villains outside of Norman Osborn. That's one of the big reasons I think he is so popular.
 
The Roger Stern story was just so brilliantly written, and really solidified him as one of my favorites.

Agreed. It's a shame that Roderick Kingsley wasn't really given more time as Hobgoblin after his true identity was revealed. I would have loved to see him fight Norman Osborn, a real Green Goblin vs Hobgoblin battle for the ages.
 
For me it's:

1) Green Goblin
2) Ock
3) Lizard
4) Hobgoblin
5) Venom
--------------------
6) Electro (most untapped villian with potential)
7) Kraven
8) Mysterio
9) Vulture
10) Kingpin

It was, in some ways. On the other hand, it cockteased us with a Green Goblin vs Doctor Octopus battle and Mac Gargan as Venom, both of which only lead to disappointment and wondering what might have been.
 
True, but the the series itself was satisfying. I think those fights are meant to just be a tease. They are dream fights like Freddy vs. Jason or Frankenstein vs. The Wolfman.

But what about things like Mac Gargan as Venom? He was even more powerful than Eddie Brock's Venom was, yet Spider-Man beat him in a straight-up fist-fight in their first battle, without sonics or heat, or even assistance from allies. Venom I never performed so poorly. What a waste.
 
I've always wanted to see Venom(Eddie Brock),Green Goblin and Doc Ock team up vs. Spidey. Forget the Sinister Six,those 3 would most certainly kill Spider-man.

Agreed. They would kick Spider-Man's ass for days.

I perfer the Sinister Six for old times sake though, lol.
