You know, that actually isn't a bad idea. Have Dent and Rachel working on a case (the Joker if you wanna make it ironic), and Joker busting in and just shooting at Rachel right there with no questions asked would be brutal.

I love it. It's a nice nod to the comics.

On another note, if they really wanted to push the buttons, I think it'd be pretty twisted if they implied Joker spent some "extra time" with Rachel, and took some photographs for mementos.

I didnt even know that was in the comics. Wow.. whichever medium, bad idea. Id hate for this franchise to get the same gimmicks going as last. Its easy to fall back into that habit.

I think they both will prevent Joker in his deal (killing mob bosses) and he will want to kill just Rachel. WHy? Because he wants to turn HArvey into the freak, the same what happened with himself.

And they can also include Harvey trying to fight with Joker!

Christian Bale was so great because he was really passionate about the character.

I dont want katie holmes in this movie. Unless its in the first 10 minutes and joker kills her off and drives batman into beserk mode almost killing the joker only to realize that Rachel wasnt that great of a girl then remembering her slapping him in the face when showed her the gun. Then realizes that joker did him a favor so he drives him to the gotham pub, have a few pints, and off to Arkham.

I agree here too. Holmes basically made sure she didnt stick out as horrible. I thought she blended in, but of course was outperformed.

Her best stuff i thought was explaining why bruce need not thank Falcone in the car.

...Freeman did it for the money. He openly admitted that, yet he was great in his role. Katie Holmes was the only one that willingly took a screentest for the role that had no history at all, whereas Batman had 60+ years of history... And you're expecting her to be overly dedicated and passionate about it on the same level that Christian Bale was?

You know using this part in The Killing Joke in having Rachel in place of Barbara in the comics would be good. To me adding the tension of Batman wanting to kill The Joker, but cannot would be good.
Honestly though I liked the Rachel dawes character and she actually tried to fight back, but to me Katie Holmes was just miscast in my opinion.
As far, as the one post that said Bruce should have one girlfriend, well Bruce isn't Superman/ Clark Kent where it is obvious that Clark and Lois belong together. Bruce Wayne does go from girl to girl, although I think Bruce wants an actual love intrest that lasts, but knows it won't.

i agree. one of the main reasons that they, the production company, was considering not having her back was due to her lack of interest in promoting the movie. they felt she was underenthusiastic and passionate about her role and the outcome of the movies monetary intake.
i mean, c'mon! if you're going to get paid millions to get to be in a move as cool as Batman, you had better be on Leno, Conan, Letterman, MTV selling that movie like crazy.
