I also like the idea of a young Lex, someone who's built his own path to success with technological brilliance, and who has his hands in some very shady side-projects. Alexander Skarsgard would be amazing as Lex. He can easily handle the arrogance and the brilliance, the charm and the darker edge.

I'll take him over dicaprio, willis, damon, pitt, and zane.

Skarsgard is a very good actor I agree, but I fear he is too tall and lanky for Luthor at 6'4". I doubt it would be possible to make him look right even with perspective tricks, his proportions are just too lanky in my opinion. I can't put my finger on it but he is just lacking a certain Luthor-ness.

My ideal Luthor I think would be Leonardo DiCaprio. At 36, he is young enough to still play a new age, technology billionaire, but a little bit older than Cavill which I think is good. I think his performance in The Aviator showed that he can handle both the brilliant inventor and domineering industrialist sides of modern Lex's personality. He also does an excellent job of conveying obsession and, man, when he turns on the anger.

Sadly, I assume he probably doesn't have high regard for superhero films, especially Zack Snyder's work.

^Plus DiCaprio would look weird bald.

dicaprio is just not threatening enough still at 36 he still has a baby face

skarsgard would be a great young lex 6'4 may be a bit tall in comparison to Henry's 6'1 tho

What about the man of the moment, Ryan Gosling for Lex. Certainly has a great look for him here:

The same "weirdly shaped bald head" argument that applies to DiCaprio can be applied to Ryan Gosling. Watch The Believer, where he plays a neo-nazi and you'll see a very good actor with a funny cranium.

Would it bother most people if Lex had hair....I mean I think at first it would, but as long as they get the character right, it wouldn't be an issue. And he doesn't have to have hair that's like fabio, but maybe just a balding lex?

Ima go Smallville for a second and select Callum Blue. I believe he did the best for General Zod but, in the end, he was miscasted. I view as a young charming and devious Lex Luthor.

Heh, I wonder how Callum would feel playing second fiddle to Henry again after his barely memorable stint on The Tudors. I always wondered why he was even on that show. He literally did nothing that entire season.

True, but he's still a very solid talent.

Cavill spoke highly of him after leaving The Tutors.

I like the suggestion of Patrick Wilson, he'd be a great Luthor.

I read McG wanted Depp for the role. I never would've suggested Johnny Depp but when I picture it I could see him doing very well. It would depend on the director though, a lot of people seem to want Johnny Depp to play some weirdo quirky dude in all his films. Stick closer to a guy like his portrayal of John Dillinger and I think he could be very good. His normal speaking voice works well too.

I keep thinking Bradley Cooper would fit quite well after seeing Limitless.

Bradley Cooper certainly has the Lex smugness, but he's almost too unlikeable. I don't think he has the charm needed.

Personally I don't think he was miscast. I thought he fit the role of a young General Zod incredibly well, and if it hadn't been him in the role I don't think I would have enjoyed the arc so much.

He'd be a miscast for Lex tho IMO.
