The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 4

I think he could pull it off. No , he's not the fan image of Lex , but then again , imo he's what Lex would be in the reality of 2012 . A younger, ambitious , suave , corporate raider and not the older CEO of the comics and Lois and Clark.

Lex was always written as a child prodigy, so it's not hard to imagine a younger Lex being all that he is like the comics, opposed to being older.

and he is'nt even that young he is 6 years older than henry lol

he turns 35 this year

But because he looks like a boyband member, the issues arise :p

I couldn't get on the Dicaprio bandwagon because of his boyish voice. I think when Leo turns 80, he will still sound like a 12 year old :hehe:

leo does look like a boy still LOL

meyers is just good looking imo leo could never sell me on ruthless and intense

meyers can and already has in Tudors he has psycho eyes and veins pop out of his neck when he screams LOL

and does'nt have a little boy voice

Ok I found a more recent pic of JRM and I gotta say after watching him on, the Tudors and now that he looks older from the other pic. YES that would be a good choice.
he already has chemistry with Cavill.
Anyway...

Haven't seen it, but let me ask: is it funnier than watching Sylvester Stallone try to play an intellectual in Tango & Cash?

LOL, yes. Because at least Stallone was kinda trying to play an intellectual action hero. Wahlberg plays a nerdy science teacher who just walks around looking like a deer caught in headlights the whole time. That performance might have been the reason why nearly all of the other actors in The Fighter landed Oscar noms but him.

Just had an idea. If we were to go down the older Lex route, I think Stanley Tucci would make such a good Lex. :awesome:

No seriously. :awesome:

I think he played a very Lex-like character on that Murder One show, but I'm not sure (didn't watch it). Regardless, certainly a great actor. I'd be down with it. And even though he was in Captain America, he was practically unrecognizable there.

Yeah, he's definitely an older actor that could work it.

He's also great, which helps.

I want Lex to start out in his prime.

And remember, Lex was only 20 when he made his first billion dollars :D

I want Lex to start out in his prime, too, but I just don't want it to be Meyers.

cant think of a good young actor tho Meyers is quite a solid actor on par if not better than henry

but i can respect your opinion

I still want Hardy. :o:up:

Hardy was my ideal choice before he was Bane. Now I'm leaning toward Oscar Isaac.

He's a great, underrated actor who's about to be much more well-known (he's the lead in the new Coen Bros movie). And I think he looks the part enough.

That Luthor was in his 40s.

He was the classic mad scientist version, at the end of his criminal career.

Lex is always in that age range. Looking physically fit is one thing, hundreds of actors in their 40s can easily pull that off, hell even Meloni (Col. Hardy) is an example of that.

But looking youthful and boyish is something completely different... Lex should appear mature and dignified instead.

I want a manly man actor to play Luthor, plenty of great examples shown previously in this thread, as opposed to an effeminate metrosexual Lex.

^ yes but he looked extremely youthful and was ripped as all hell

did not look like a man in his 40's but a man in his early 30's

if you are referring to Meyers again he hardly looks boyish your acting like he look 20 lol

he looks his age of early 30's

Because he has muscles from working out in prison....? That's a pretty big leap.

That manly and physically-imposing Luthor is also the physical antithesis of Rhys-Meyers, so it's not really helping your case.
