it'll be someone we don't even expect. There is already a pool of suave character actors we know more than fit the bill, and while they would hit it out the park, you kind of want to go unorthodox sometimes.

Bingo.

  • An Englishman playing Superman (in a radically-altered suit sans the trademark red trunks)
  • Full on red-head Lois Lane
  • Black Perry White
  • MILF Ma Kent
  • Possibly female Jimmy Olsen
How would someone like Johnson be so unacceptable and "different" given how different they're already going with this iteration?

Honest question.

Unorthodox is fine, but you dissapoint me. I just dont think there's a very capable actor hidden behind that frame.

I wanted Dwayne Johnson for Bane. Perhaps when they make a real Batman movie he'll get the part.

I absolutely love Dwayne Johnson. But for me personally, the Lex Luthor I am wishing to see and would be perfect for MOS (Birthright/Lex Luthor: Man of steel/Secret Origins/All Star Superman) <That guy, I don't think DJ has it in him... yet. The level of acting required for those versions to become one is not yet in his range.

The only reason I'd want Lex Luthor to have hair would be if he had long glorius locks, like Lex Luthor II in the Nineties, Lionel Luthor in Smallville, and even John Shea in Lois and Clark. Heck Gene Hackman had plenty of hair in the 70's films.

Then he can loose the hair as a visible sign of how obsessed he's getting with Superman.

Really, the baldness is comparable to the cape for Superman in that it's one of the first things you ever remember about the character when you're a kid, so if you're going to subvert that expectation, go big in the opposite direction so that the audience will be wondering when he's going to lose the hair.

I'm still thinking Idris Elba

gee I wonder why

:funny: .....just remember....that is Luth"ER", we want a Luth"OR" :funny:

and I still want Guy Pearce as "Alexander Joseph Luthor", starts off like that, with a full head of red hair, then something happens and he shows he's truly evil, has an accident, loses his hair....and then goes by "Lex" :D

Ha ha I swear to god I didnt even know he was in that. I just want him cause he's a bloody good actor.

I'd be ecstatic if we for Pearce

It'd be an unnecessary move to have a black Lex as well when you have a black Perry and a middle-eastern looking Jimmy Olsen, who also happens to be female. Makes me shudder at what Lex might be.

The point has been made whatever it is.

Ahh but I don't think its fair to say Lex should be white just cause Perry's black, Lois is a redhead, etc it should be the best actor for the part.

Why not Denzel?

My mom would be super excited if Denzel was Lex. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with it, Denzel isn't my favorite but I'd be fine.

I'm pretty sure Jamie tossed Denzel's name out there because he is considered a great actor, not because of his race one way or the other.

He's gotten better and better as he gets older I find.

Denzel's the best actor on the planet

Denzel's the best actor on the planet

You are confusing Denzel with another actor whose name starts with a D. ;)

That said, I'd love to see Denzel as Lex. If Denzel is in a movie I already know I'll watch it and like it.
