The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 6

Is he the one hyping the fans up on his appearance, though? I got the impression he was just sharing his excitement about being in it at all, and it was other sources suggesting his role was anything significant. Is that not the case?

You're absolutely right. He isn't, he's just saying he's in it - the fans are making it into this huge thing. However I am sure we can see his face then if that is the case and that he is most definitely NOT Luthor.

Well I'll agree that's the most likely scenario. I'm just not ruling out the silhouette/back-of-the-head option completely on the off-chance that AICN's "inside source" had any sliver of merit.

Highly doubt that Gray is going to play Lex in any shape or form, I honestly have no idea why anyone would even think it, why? Cause he's in the movie and was on Smallville? So what? He played 2 different characters on Smallville.

Season 5 he was there as Dr. Alistair Kreig, the guy who turned Victor Stone into Cyborg (on the show), then in season 10 he came back as the failed Lex Clone.

He's in the movie, great, he's not playing Lex, I'm willing to bet my Action Comics #1 (2011) comic thats signed by Grant Morrison that Gray will not be playing "LEX LUTHOR", he might be someone with a connection to Lex, but he wont be Lex himself.

Alessandro Juliani is in Man Of Steel, but we all know full well he's not playing his Smallville character (Dr. Emil Hamilton), same with Amy Adams, I highly doubt in the middle of the film Lois will reveal her real name to be Jodi Melville (though that would be a huge plot twist lol) and then she goes around and starts eating people :funny:

That doesn't mean Lex should be black and have a daughter as a pornstar :o

I didn't like him on Smallville. He seemed like a ripoff character out of Dark City and it didn't work. If he was just used as a teaser shot (silhouette or even a clear back of the chair/head view) it is an indication that even if he is not the actual actor playing Lex, they will be going with the traditional bald Lex look.

So I saw Stoker yesterday (really enjoyed it) and now I desperately want Matthew Goode as Lex now.

I agree with a few others that Michael C. Hall is the man for the job.

He can be really creepy. If they don't go with a big star I vote for Goode. Not that my vote matters...

Wasn't Goode one of the finalists for the Superman role? If so, perhaps Snyder cast him as Luthor instead (this sort of thing happened with Cillian Murphy in Batman Begins) and is just keeping it a secret for the film. Probably not, but you never know.

Also, speaking of Batman films, this speculation over Mackenzie Grey reminds me of when Anthony Michael Hall was cast in TDK and everyone jumped to the conclusion that he must be playing the Riddler or some other important Batman character, since he wouldn't reveal what his role was.

Just spoke to Mackenzie Gray via his Facebook page and he keeps saying "what", not "who" he is playing....I posted a pic of Metallo on his page and he liked it. I swear it would be something if he is playing Metallo. Or even the voice of Brainiac...

Maybe he is just John Corben in the military, set up to be Metallo in a sequel. Isn't Corben under Gen. Sam Lane in the New 52?

He looks more like a Brainiac than a Corben, or Lex for that matter which he played a Dark City version of.......

That would be cool if he played John Corben before being turned into Metallo....and to answer your question:

The New 52
In the rebooted continuity of The New 52, John Corben is under the command of General Sam Lane.[7] General Lane tells Corben to talk to Lois Lane, when she keeps questioning where Superman is. It is implied that Corben and Lois once had a relationship. When Superman escapes from the military's custody, Corben is seen enlisting in what appears to be a military project co-opted by Lex Luthor, General Lane, and young scientst Doctor John Henry Irons to go against Superman called "Project Steel Soldier".[8] Corben is seen in the "Metal 0" suit with scientists, mostly Irons trying to help him. He continues believing that he did it for the affection of Lois and when the robotic needles are in his head, Metallo takes control and his heart bursts. Metallo then screams "Where is Superman?"[9] Although the attack on Superman succeeds, Metallo is revealed to have been subverted by Brainiac as part of his own plans, and his rampage is defeated when Doctor Irons uses an armoured suit of his own to fight Corben and upload a computer virus that he designed in the event of such a situation.[10] After escaping and still under Brainiac's control, Corben continued to fight Superman[11] until Superman was able to reason with Metallo to fight Brainiac's influence due to his feelings for Lois Lane. In doing so, Corben attacked Brainiac until Superman was able to defeat the villain, but he subsequently fell into a coma and was taken back by the army. It was revealed that the armor was keeping him alive thanks to the alien technology, but without a heart he would soon die. General Lane told his scientists to find a way to save him since he helped to save Metropolis. He was later given a Kryptonite heart to keep him alive since it was the only energy compatible with his cybernetics.[12]

you think he looks more like Brainiac? I don't see it. I see Metallo to be honest....and that's who I hear as well

Wow, that all sounds like it could fit MOS very well, what with Sam Lane being in the movie and Supes being arrested by the military.

I don't see him having a big role myself. I could see him as doing a teaser shot for Lex where they don't reveal his face...

where did we hear that Sam Lane was in the movie? I don't remember hearing that....

well supposedly one of his close friends came out and confirmed that he has a big role, but won't say what it is

I really wanted Harry Lennix to have a large role. Decent actor and he looks like Obama lol

for all we know his general could have a large role....I'm more of a Meloni fan myself. It happens when you watch a guy for 12 years on Law and Order: SVU

Meloni has been rumored as Lex a lot by conspiracy theorists, but just because Nolan is involved it doesn't mean he is gonna pull a Ras on everyone :p
