My theory is that he's up for Jor-El.
That would make alot of sense in my opinion

If Daniel Day Lewis is Lex, I hope he doesn't ham it up like Kevin Spacey or Gene Hackman. I hope his portrayal is closer to Michael Rosenbaum's. Heck, I hope his portrayal is closer to John Glover's as that is the kind of Lex i'd like to see on screen. A truly villanous, magnificent bastard.
You know I thought about Daniel Day Lewis as Lex myself but I kind of just assumed from the rumours that he was up for Zod.

Peter Greene as lex?
Doesn't have the star power, but he does have an interesting look.

Gosling would be an interesting and effective choice. With all the more interesting ways to go with Lex, I hope Snyder goes with someone like Gosling and doesn't screw up the role. Someone with intense intelligence and cunning to him, which is the trait that Lex has been lacking as of late.Agreed completely. Like Jeffrey Dean Morgan for Perry White, it's not the usual look that is suggested, or that i'd go for. But because of the combination of roles i've seen him in, i think he'd bring an interesting edge.

) but I just can't see him as Lex. I think he'd better suit Zod.I love him in the Tudors (except for his over acting sex scenes) but I just can't see him as Lex. I think he'd better suit Zod.

It doesn't have to be Gosling. I just hope Snyder casts someone in that mold, someone who's not a thug. Thug Lex is the absolute worst version of Lex there is. Lex's main weapon is supreme intellect. That's the way the role should be cast.Gosling is one of my favorite actors but I really can't see him as Lex. I can't see him as the elitist type. The closest I've seen him play to that type of character was in Fracture, and that movie was horrible. It was also one of the weakest performances I've seen from the usually reliable Gosling, who looked like he was half-asleep the whole time.
I think he's best when appearing in smaller projects. Just judging from his performances in films like Lars and the Real Girl, I think he has more of a passion for smaller scale stuff.

If Nolan was the one that brought Cavill to Snyder's attention, hopefully he's done the same for Lex and whoever else might be the villain. One thing Nolan has proved is that he knows how to cast awesome villains.
