Greene looks so goddamn fine, but she's not going to get it.

People can suggest whoever they want. It's fine to disagree but you don't have to be a dick about it.
I'm only a dick about the ones clearly unfit for the role; especially when their supporters haven't/barely watched anything the actress has been in. :o

For good reason.

I have a reason, because that looks nothing like Lois.

There is no reason the actress cast for Lois must be a dead ringer for the comic look.

If we do this, we need someone with raven black hair and a tinted tan too their skin.

I still don't have a new favorite. Evangiline Lilly being preggo really throws a wrench into my Lois plans.

This, and the actress needs to have that "(possibly overworkd)career woman" look. She needs to be ambitious, somewhat authoritative, and a bit pushy. Kinda like Terri Hatcher as Lois.

If we are suggesting actresses on the talent level of Jessica Stroup, Olivia Wilde, and Ashley Greene, I'm suggesting Emmanuelle Chriqui.

I'm at a bit of a disadvantage in this discussion, because I don't know who many of these suggested actresses are. Never seen "Twilight," not into any of the TV shows referenced here.

But what I'm looking for in a Lois Lane is an actress who exudes intelligence. Lois is supposed to be a savvy, sometimes hardnosed reporter. We need a Lois with confidence and strength. My ideal was Natalie Portman but for various reasons she's probably not going to get the role.

My second choice would be Emily Blunt, who's been mentioned here before. She's a great actress and beautiful in a slightly less conventional way. In everything I've seen her in, she always comes across as very smart.

Since I don't know the Olivia Wildes and Jessica Stroups of this world, can anyone tell me if they seem intelligent in their roles?

This.

And what's this shortlist you're all talking about?

McAdams makes more sense to be Lois than Wilde in my opinion

Agreed... and yeah, what shortlist?

If Director needs to reiterate Ashely Greene then I present into evidence the following:

See, this just looks really wrong to me... like Lois is this super hot super model who would eat Clark Kent alive...

In a way, I think that's why it would be better to have a younger Lois.

Depends on which stage of her career the film is set, doesn't it?

Wilde, yes.
Stroup, for the age of the characters she plays, yes.

Teri Hatcher's Lois was a stubborn idiot. Sure, she is a great reporter but an idiot nonetheless. She always got herself into stupid situations where Superman had to come save her...I think it should naturally happen instead of Lois putting herself into that situation

i bet lois is only in it as an end cameo or something. if they really are going the "begins" route, we won't see lois for a while. rachel mcadams seems to be the only one mentioned here that can protray the lois personality. olivia wilde is good, but she comes off as cold. jessica stroup is on 90210, and isn't that good of an actress but no one on that show really is. ashley green is just eye candy.

Sounds like Wilde would be perfect for your tastes, but not mine.

Yes Lois is intelligent... but when I watch Teri Hatcher for example, playing the role, I don't think she exudes it. Because the other great thing about the character is her eccentricities. She babbles, she goes off on tangents, she's irrational, sometimes ridiculously excitable. I love it, she's so full of life.

When you say 'exudes intelligence' i'm thinking of some cool, classy business women... and that's just not Lois Lane to me.

Lois Lane is the opposite of cool... she's all over the place :)

Yeah, I hate that too Majik. At least watch what they've been in before declaring them perfect for a role.

her jaw structure is terrible for portraying an icon, especially in this video

I guess Wilde has this great personality to me. She always comes across as a kind, fun, genuine person, who wants to do more than just acting. Check out the other video. She is pretty but not glamorous. And she is not the typical Hollywood girl. Could be the next Jolie.

Greene comes off as unlikeable to me, fake, and very wooden. The type to say something with a smile while being completely disingenuous and sinister under the surface, also slightly vapid. She's an actress, but clearly not good enough to hide the horrible person she is on the inside.

lol I won't comment on her personality as I don't know her personally, but as someone who has watched her in the Twilight movies, I will say she's likable in her roles, even with the horrid writing of the movies. However, that's not to say she's a good choice for Lois in any way.

Way to judge her without actually knowing her.

I am sorry, but that was very dumb. We do need an actress that looks like the comics otherwise it isn't going to be Lois. Sure personality and acting abilities are important, but looking like Lois is just as important.

Her jaw structure? You realize that Lois isn't suppose to be perfect looking. She is suppose to be striking but not AMAZING looking. She is suppose to have flaws...
