I'd be okay with Biel. She's not my first choice, but I like her well enough.

Well the good thing is Lois is rumored to have a small secondary role in this.

Of course, she'll play a much bigger role in the sequels, if there are any. I hope Snyder/WB think Biel is capable of doing more than just standing around and being a girlfriend.

Yeah.... but that was a completely original character that we weren't already emotionally invested in.
this is freaking LOIS LANE. among the most iconic female characters in history.

Why Biel ? There are so many choices out there that are better than Biel, she is not attractive and she has a bland look, I would have a difficult time looking at dull and boring Clark Kent and plain bland Lois Lane as reporters.

At least Katie Holmes was attractive and Maggie Gyllenhaal was a better actress than Biel, as for Bosworth her horrible make up and Wig made her look terrible and the script was bad.

I won't say she couldn't pul it off but from what I've seen I'm not convinced she could. I definitely wouldn't want her for Lois. I'm still on the Olivia Wilde train.

As it is not confirmed I am waiting patiently. However... If she does get it there is a very good reason. Why are so many of you so quick to damn the movie when two weeks ago it was going to be "Epic"?? Man, I'd hate to be in jury duty with some of you people!

I’ve been hearing from multiple sources lately that Biel is in consideration for at least two MAJOR profile projects working with MAJOR profile, very influential Hollywood players. The parts don’t require much skill, if any, but they’re looking for an attractive girl who can stand there and be the “girlfriend”. And a lot of girls want this job. I’m told Jessica’s very near the top of the list, if not at the top, specifically for a movie involving a dude who might, once in a while, fly around saving the world in a cape. Wouldn’t it be convenient if she booked the role and then started dating her handsome costar with an accent? There’s a LOT better than Justin Timberlake out there. She’ll be back on the cling soon enough. Trust.

Now, normally I don't trust gossip blogs but Lainey tends to use reliable sources and she has scooped casting for movies before so I tend to believe what she writes. Anyway, I Biel wouldn't be top of MY list. She's just too... beige?

Hmmm....

Cat Grant or Lana Lang I would think are the possible roles she may be up for in the Man Of Steel film.

Certainly not for Lois Lane.

And has it ever occurred to anyone that Wilde has indeed tested for the roll and she didn't have what Snyder was looking for? Or is everyone convinced that this woman is incapable of imperfection? Maybe she and Cavill didn't have good chemistry together. I'm about to say something her that my cause a riot... I found her performance in Tron to be forgettable. :/ Now having said that I'm not sticking up for Biel but rather standing by cast decisions made by the Snyder/Nolan camp. A team people were singing "best casters ever" not too long ago...

Oh here we go... Well apparently its a shortcoming of a lot of Super hero movies since Spiderman. I will say this though, I thought the woman who played the Queen of Sparta was great and I also liked the female lead in Watchmen.

I think Biel has been in a lot of bad movies with a lot of bad dialogue(Blade Trinity, Valentine's Day, Stealth, I Now pronounce you Chuck and Larry...not to mention the insipid tripe from 7th Heaven) which has left her looking like a bad actress.

She was good in The Illusionist. I think she could pull off Lois. Sometimes she gives off a really aggressive demeanor(which is good for Lois, to a point) but she might have to temper her manner so that Lois doesn't come off too b*tchy.

Nolan and Snyder have had hits and misses with casting female leads, but on the whole they've been pretty good, in my opinion. You can blame most of Maggie Gyllenhaal's (and maybe even some of Katie Holmes') shortcomings on Rachel Dawes being a so-so character.

Memento - Carrie Anne Moss, great
Insomnia - Hillary Swank, horrible (not a bad actress, just terrible in this movie)
Batman Begins - Katie Holmes, mediocre
The Prestige - Scarlett Johannsen and Rebecca Hall, decent
The Dark Knight - Maggie Gyllenhaal, good
Inception - Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page, great

Zack Snyder -

Dawn of the Dead - Sarah Polley, good
300 - Lena Headey, great
Watchmen - Malin Ackerman and Carla Gugino, decent
Owl movie - didn't see it but Helen Mirren is almost always good
Sucker Punch - again, no one has seen it, but Emily Browning and Jena Malone are very good actresses. Cornish is usually good too, though I haven't seen her in much. The other two, well... they're nice to look at.

So all in all, that's not a bad list of actresses or performances. Some rotten apples here and there, but ironically, the worst performance out of any of them (IMHO) was by a two-time oscar winner, who for some reason is either excellent (Boys Don't Cry, Million Dollar Baby) or TERRIBLE (Freedom Writers, The Reaping, The Next Karate Kid).

I'm starting to think Snyder cast the role a while ago but isn't going to reveal it until he absolutely has to, just so that everyone will be happy with the choice because we're just so sick of bickering with each other over it.

I think we'll just know the entire cast a couple of months before shooting. So, be patient folks.

Biel isn't in my top 5, but she's fine to me. I think she's beautiful and at least she tries to challenge herself to become a better actress.

I have the feeling she'll get the part too...but even though I was rooting for Cavill for more than TWO YEARS to get the part in the reboot, I wasn't really feeling he would get the part, and how was my surprise?

That's why I still have hope Mary gets the role.

Given that the castings of Lane as Martha Kent, Cavill as Clark Kent, and Hathaway as Catwoman were pretty much off the radar in terms of rumored names throw around , I suspect the actress who will be chosen probably isn't gonna be any of the rumored names such as Biel, McAdams, or Wilde.
