thank you darth
Love the sound of the melee weapons and trying out different types.

Melee weapons vary in damage and speed. Hard-hitting hammers deal great damage, while lightning-fast shivs or swords allow you to get in and out of harm’s way at maximum speed and precision.

so, are there only 6 squadmates??
Yep, seams so. Like the original. Though they have been really odd on whether Quarians are in the game, so maybe there is one last surprise?

ah, thanks.

I hope then that there are LIs beyond the squadmates, because so far none of the squadmates seem appealing to my planned Fem Ryder.

Yeah, hopefully. I will play as Male Ryder the first time, so I like the idea at the chance to romance Natalie Dormer. :o

I hate Liara and dislike Asari.

Maybe I'm still bitter about the sidelined characters from 2 and the rushed endings of 3. Other than the aesthetics nothing is really grabbing me. Maybe the exploration video will do it for me.

I love Asari. And I thought it was the lack of tech armor that was the dealbreaker for you? ;)

who is Dormer voicing??

one factor in determining whether I play Male or Female is who the respective LIs are.

I prefer to play as Female characters, because I like strong female protags, especially if I can create my own. plus, I'd rather stare at a sexy female character for the duration of the game. :o

but, if the LIs for the male character are more interesting or appealing, I may consider playing as a male protag.

in this case, I may consider playing as Male Ryder to romance PeeBee ( assuming she's available as a LI for Male Ryder ).

I also like the "default" model for Male Ryder, moreso than the one for Fem Ryder. and the default name, Scott, is acceptable, too.

I usually play the male character first as my paragon with a ruthless streak when it comes to negotiating with Batarian terrorists and news reporters, and my FemShep as out and out renegade.

That's definitely a big part of it. There's the Sentinel profile, but I didn't see Tech Armor under the tech abilities branch.

It's a slew of things. But they're bringing back exploration from the first title, so that could be enough to get me back into this series.

And I really don't like Asari. An entire race of Mary Sues that can procreate with all races and genders. It's a mystery how the Salarians haven't gone extinct because of them.

An Asari doctor. It is in the video I posted. :yay:

I have played as FemShep and the voice acting was such an improvement, it was almost a joke she wasn't the "canon" take. But it then meant I only had one real romance option, Liara.

PeeBee seems adorable so I am hoping she is available either way.

Oh right. I wasn't sure how much of your tech armor comment was a joke lol, although it is a shame for anything like that to be missing and I'd miss it too if it was absent.

I'm all for exploration as long as the main story has a tight narrative and the side missions also have much more to them than mining some resources and flipping the Mako. :woot:

I'm missing Biotic powers like Reave and Slam.

just read the IGN writeup about spending 3 hours with the game. the author said that each tree has 12 abilities, which matches what has been shown in the vids so far.

so, maybe powers like Tech Armor, Reave, and Slam have indeed been removed. :(

that being said, it seems some of the squadmates of have "unique" powers. Like Liam has a "dual omni blade" strike move that I didn't see listed in Ryder's skill trees.

so, maybe more powers can be unlocked via sidequests and loyalty missions?

if I remember, Reave was a power that had to be unlocked in prior games.

also, from the new vid, it looks like the "teleport" ability is called Biotic Blink, which is available with Rank 2 of the Pathfinder profile.

Rank 1 of the Adept profile says that it replaces the jet-pack jump and evade with Biotic jump and evade, which was also shown in action in the vid.

I wonder if Rank 2 of Adept will upgrade the Biotic evade to Biotic Blink. that would seem logical.

I don't know if anybody here's played Kingdoms of Amalur, but Andromeda's class system is a sci-fi copy/paste version of KoA's. It isn't a bad thing.

I've played it although it was a long time ago.

I hope nothing is outright removed, maybe changed or upgraded or slightly different but I can't see why anything would be taken out completely without a similar substitute that covered the same base.

This is so close.. Believe it or not I've kept completely silent on this. I havent watched a single trailer or read anything about it.. Other than there not really being a GOOD/EVIL scale.

So close. Soooo close.

Anything in particular you might want to know, but are worry about being spoiled about other things?

This is the game I'm most excited about for this gen (so far).

hmm I think there's a few more coming but it's six forb now if you don't count their salarian pilot who's a crew member

A look at profiles, favorites, and your squad.

ME-Andromeda-Gameplay-Series-2.jpg

The second video in Electronic Arts and BioWare’s Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay series focuses on profiles, favorites, and your squad.

As you level up in Mass Effect: Andromeda, you’ll gain access to dozens of skills and over 300 skill upgrades. You’re free to pick any skill without being limited to a class, which allows you to create a Pathfinder suited to how you want to play.

As detailed in the first video, there are three main types of skills in the game: combat, tech, and biotics. As you unlock skills over the course of the game, you’ll also gain access to profiles. There are seven types of profiles. Here are two of them:

  • Adept – The Adept profile is perfect for players who want to specialize in biotics. As you choose more biotic skills, the Adept profile will give you bonuses to suit your play style. Choosing Adept gives bonuses to the duration and damage of your biotics. And the more you invest in your skills, the higher level profiles you can unlock.

  • Explorer – Maybe you want to be more versatile, choosing some combat mixed with biotic and tech skills. This will unlock the Explorer profile, giving you perks and buffs that enhance all your abilities.
You can swap between these profiles at any time, giving you a number of ways to tackle each battle and never locking you into a particular style of play.

Favorites are a quick way to map three skills and a single profile to one slot. At any time during combat, you can switch between these four slots, giving you access to up to 12 of your favorite skills during a fight.

As for your squad, each of your six squad-mates has three active and two passive skills. In the video, we see Cora use her biotics as a support character and Drack able to soak up damage as a bruiser.

You can set your squad up around the battlefield, ordering them to defend locations, attack targets, or rally to your side, as well as team up with them for Power Combos.

These activate when you or one of your squad-mates primes an enemy or group of enemies, setting them up for the kill, then you or a squad-mate jumps in to detonate and finish the job. You can level up your squad-mates to make them specifically good at priming or detonating targets.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe.

Update 9:00 a.m.: Electronic Arts also released a video featuring voice actress Natalie Dormer, of Game of Thrones fame, who stars as Dr. Lexi T’Perro in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Described as one of the game’s central characters, Lexi is one of the first characters players will meet when they wake up from their 600-year cryo sleep. She is “is calm and compassionate with a feisty edge. Her role is to maintain crew fitness, both physical and mental, and research how the environments and situations they are exposed to throughout the Andromeda galaxy affect human biology and psychology.”

I hope Dormer's Asari doctor lady is a romance option for Male Ryder, and I hope other male crew members ( non squadmates ) are option for Fem Ryder.

just like in DAI, romance options don't have to be with companions.

for the extremely naughty and deviant player, every crew member in Andromeda should be romanceable by Ryder. :o

"the only they that will transfer from previous saves is whether your Shepard was male or female"

That's fine... it is... but I want my goddamn space hamster back. thanks.

they said to hold on to those saves . though so they have plans for that it may not be this game series but there's supposed to be another mass effect beside Andromeda happening. if the saves are used for this series.
