I'm sure the enchantment will be made known to some extent.
In some ways I hope they use some of the Story ideas JMS had with the line of people and formed to pick up Mjolnir and failing, and if Thor is next to Mjolnir unconscious, it'd be a nice scene where Thor wakes up and effortlessly picks up Mjolnir.

Problem is in FF they already know it's Thor's hammer and so everyone is trying to pick it up.

In the Movie they probably won't know what it really is so why would there be a line of people trying. Only those who found it would give it a try.

Although it would be Hillarious if HHH was there as either a passerby who found it or as the Biggest SHEILD agent who happens to be at the site and tries to lift it after a couple of other agents fail. That would be priceless :)

Thanks Vartha. So the fact of the matter is that if Thor placed Mjolnir on a scale it would weigh just as any warhammer would and the enchantment would make it impossible for anyone to come along and lift it. Therefore the enchantment has nothing to do with weight.
Well, it's not a paperweight or anything. It still weighs quite a bit, but Thor is more than strong enough to lift it in addition to being worthy. Anyone who's worthy of lifting it gains Thor's strength, so they'd have no problem lifting it either.

'Cause it's in Podunk, New Mexico? I'm sure word would travel fast through a sleepy little town that there's this crazy hammer that nobody can lift out in the desert.

I can't say I have any desire whatsoever to see HHH in anything, let alone a movie I care as much about as Thor.

I still don't get this "HHH" thing you keep bringing up??

HHH = Triple H the wrestler that many (NOT ME) wanted to play Thor in the movie. So this would be quite the ironic scene. You can have him be named SHIELD Agent Eric Masterson (LOL) and be not worthy of lifting Mjolnir.

and by many, you mean 12 or 13 wrestling fans and probably no one that 98 percent of people going to see this movie would know??

yea good job with that one

**** yea it would....usually news like that hits the bars first, so you'd get all the drunk a-holes out there, then random people who hear others talking about it.....

Well, in fairness, how many people going to see the movie are gonna know who Hemsworth is? Hopkins, Portman, Branagh, and maybe Skarsgard are the names that'll sell this movie to people who care about that sort of thing.

Yeah Corp I know its not light in weight. What I was getting at in my original post was that if the hammer is not in use it can't be so heavy it can't just hang from some strap. So again the enchantment has nothing to do with weight.

I hope Branagh does some press for the film, dude is hilarious in interviews

if its hanging from Thors strap, or slung on his back...it is in his posession

its not rocket science

Dont be a jerk, I'm asking a question that can be answered with out being one. I was asking if he has to be touching it directly by him for it to be moved and the reason I asked it was cuz there's a scene where he's riding a horse and if that's the case it would appear odd to me that if this thing would just dangle from some strap as he rode yet can't be lifted off the ground.

Think of it this way. Thor sets Mjolnir on the floor it will stay there til he picks it up. Nobody would be able to lift it.
Like Blacklantern says, as long as Thor doesn't have it in his possession, it won't move for anyone else. He doesn't have to be holding it with his hand all the time.

Keep in mind as well that stuff from Asgard is usually a bit sturdier than Earth stuff. So who really knows how strong those "leather" straps Thor's got are? ;)

Not to mention WHAT the leather is actually from.
Think about the force Thor applies to the strap when he tosses Mjolnir into the air to fly for example.

Yeah, I think Mjolnir itself has actually broken more often than that leather strap. :lmao:

"Land of Enchantment." :oldrazz:

More likely, they secured the deal to film there and figured they might as well save some more money by just having it be New Mexico instead of trying to make it look like someplace else. Thor's based in Buttf***, Oklahoma right now, so it's not like he's specifically tied to any great, recognizable cities (except Asgard, which, as a possible filming location, has the distinct disadvantage of not actually existing).

It's a forum joke from casting threads. Simple as that. Yeah we know it won't happen. No it wouldn't be realistic to expect it. But for those who understand, it would be FUNNY. That is all.
Damn you're an unhappy person it would seem.

Yeah, that's kind of Blanternational House of Hatred's schtick. He's infamous for raining on parades. ;)

Anyone noticed how Mjolnir's hilt also lights up? Almost looks as if charging up - IMO, very cool touch!

Yeah I did notice that.
Still liking it. I loved Too Human too tho, I see nothing wrong with Magical Tech.

yea i dont see anything wrong if the hammer lights up didnt 616 hammer also do that too?
