Though it makes me wonder if we'll get a scene like we did in First Class that shows how he evolved or if we might just get a verbal explanation and that's the only look Beast has in DoFP.

I hated, hated, hated Cat Beast and the only part he looked good was the cgi scene where he is struggling to keep the jet straight. I am 100% excited to see this new classic Beast.

Holy crap just saw this. I loved Beast in X-Men: FC and I also loved his look in X3.

Now this look from what I'm seeing is another winner. Looks exactly like Jim Lee's beast. I know I said that XM:FC beast looked a bit like an amalgamation between Lee's and Kitty beast but this new one is straight up a doppelganger of the modern classic Beast we all know.

I have no problem with cat beast per se, but the execution in First Class was just terrible.

You can see they've put a lot more work into this look than for previous Beasts so I hope (& kind of expect now) that they put in just as much towards the look of other existing/new characters & their powers. And for Beast I hope they can showcase his super-agility & speed much more effectively than we've seen so far. He needs to be zipping around the screen gracefully & skillfully but at breakneck inhuman speed.

Agreed. On top of that, the makeup hindered Hoult to the point where they had to dub over all of his lines, post transformation. Badly at that.

If they wanted to do Cat-Beast, they should have just made him CG mocap. At least, facially.

Definitely looks like an improvement over his look in FC. The look of Beast was one of the things I hated the most about FC so I'm glad they've changed his look. Looking forward to seeing more of him though to see how much has changed over all.

^ If we're being nitpicky about other people's manips, your version, even with the middle strip, added still makes him look like has a narrow septum, a weird-looking philtrum and the two apex of his lips are too close together. And of course the very noticeable vertical line running down the bridge of his nose.

Much more like X3 Beast, and easier for the actor to emote and speak.

Also, I'm not sure why people keep saying X3 Beast was just Kelsey painted blue. That's rubbish. He had a lot of prosthetics and also fur stuck on his face.
