The Dark Knight The Official Plot holes thread.

Not really a plothole, but more of a grievance. Stephens really should've been called Bullock, since he basically had the look and character.

-How did Joker get a knife to be able to escape the interrogation room?[/quote]

He had a peice of broken glass from when Batman threw him into the window.

My only plot hole?
The fact that fincher doesnt spit out the smoke grenade in the prologue.
Stupid.

Also, can someone explain to me why people are on the barges? I don't think it's a plot hole. I just keep peeing at that point in the movie every time I see it. It's weird. What happened?

To be fair, the smoke grenade is pretty big nd it is stuffed right into his mouth by the Joker, and if something is that big and stuffed into your mouth there is diffilculty trying to spit it out.

WOW, gonna leave that one alone.....:oldrazz:

How Gordon was able to get to the place where Two-Face captured his family earlier than Batman?

The bank manager was going to die by his wounds, or die by the mob because they let them steal their money. So then why spit it out?

There's really no reason we couldn't have seen at least Bullock in this movie given the roles that were involved. Even Montoya could have been fit in easily.

I just assumed that the devoted man-power were too busy looking for bombs on the bridges and tunnels...since the Joker's threat mentioned nothing about the ferries...although it does require a small suspension of disbelief that they would not check the ferries for explosives before loading the passengers.

Yeah, there's nothing small about that suspension of disbelief.

Where did the piles and piles of mob money come from? I know the Joker had Lau--are we just to assume that the Joker forced Lau to send the mob's money back from HK?

I think the movie hints that Lau just packed it up and had it moved somewhere in Gotham while he went to Hong Kong.

Well, Ramerez is an actual Jeph Loeb character, whereas Bullock is totally left out, so I find it funny they didn't bother to name drop with such a small role...and he survives to boot.

This thread is full of lazy people that can't pay attention in a movie.

I don't know if this is a plot hole per se, but if Two Face is dead at the end - doesn't this mean Batman killed him? Which goes against pretty much everything before it - 'my one rule', 'I see what I would have to become to stop men like this' etc. etc. etc. And everything in BB too. Seriously, the point that Batman doesn't kill was laid on so thickly that it would make absolutely no sense for him to kill Two Face.

I guess this is only a plot hole if Dent does turn out to be dead.

you can easily make the deduction where it came from.

Wow. Movie audiences think for themselves? There's a concept.

They might have to stop texting first.

"I didn't see Batman go to the bathroom once, so how can he wear a costume all night that he can't even go to the bathroom in?"

Ugh.

Because the tunnels and bridges are wired with explosives. Joker warned of this, and they showed the police inspecting the bridges and finding bundles of dynamite.

They're using the ferries because it's the only way off the island.

Lau actually saying, "I had the money moved to a secure location" was a pretty big hint.

The trailer truck full of duffle bags was a pretty big hint.

No. Dent was holding Jimmy Gordon, and Batman tackled Dent. All three of them fell over the edge. Batman saved Jimmy, but Dent fell (presumably to his death).

Batman didn't kill Dent intentionally, nor did he decline to save him like with Ra's in BB.

So you're saying tackling someone holding a hostage whose standing on the edge of a 60ft drop, when you know you'll only be able to save the hostage and when tackling them will result in a fall isn't killing them? Riiiiiigggghhhht.

Dent put himself in that situation like Ra's did and Batman interjected for the greater good.

Oh, and I'm sure Batman had time to think all this through while laying on the ground for 10 seconds while Dent held a gun to a little boy's head. Its ludicrous to think Batman purposely pushed Dent off that ledge. His number one priority was saving the little boy. If he was a regular man and did that, I assure you he would face no jail time. It was a complete accident that Dent happened to fall the 3 stories.

There's a big, big difference between not saving someone (Ra's) and doing something that directly results in a death (Harvey). Which is what Batman would have done if Harvey turns out to be dead, as his tackling/pushing directly resulted Harvey's death. That is unarguable. And as this would completely contradict the major themes and arguments of the film, I take this to mean that Harvey is still alive.

One that gets me is, how the heck did Batman appear in midst of all people at the party? I mean somebody ought to have been startled to see Batman or Joker's goons should have noticed him approaching from the crowd of people, or even if he popped up from the ground or dropped from the ceiling, he should have been noticed. That gets me all the time, Batman was just standing there beside her.

What would you have had Batman to do then. I will pass this on to Nolan so he can correct his mistake. And Batman did sort of cause Ra's death by allowing Gordon to take his tumbler and blow up the tracks.

Dude, we're having the same conversation over two threads...:cwink: I would've done the same, just I would've made it obvious that Harvey survives the fall and escapes. Batman, in the hope that Harvey can be caught and treated, still takes the blame for Two-Face's murders, and then... roll on the next film!

Yeah, but indirectly.
