The Official Punisher by Rick Remender / Punisher MAX thread

Thank god, we have PunisherMax until the release of the new punisher by Greg Rucka.. :woot:

Jason Aaron's run is the closest to Ennis'. In terms of quality and the way it has seemed like a natural progression of the character from what Ennis built.

I always buy the TPBs so I haven't read "Bullseye" yet, but the most recent I have is Kingpin and I thought it was pretty close in quality to Ennis' stuff, too. I thought Aaron could've put more of Frank in the story, since it was basically entirely about Kingpin, but that was my only major critique (other than the art, but that's another story).

For 616, I absolutely hated Fraction's Punisher run, but I picked up Remender's first two trades since I liked his Dark Reign series. The second book wasn't as cool, and I haven't read Frankencastle yet, but I'm planning on grabbing that when the TPB comes out and I'll make my decision then whether or not I want to go back to ignoring 616 Punisher.

You're going to love the latest story then.

Regarding "Punisher By Garth Ennis Omnibus HC". The book with over 1000 pages. Does anyone know if you can buy the comics individually? I already have Welcome Back Frank, and I don't fancy spending £100 in one go to get the other stories.

I don't mean every single comic individually, I mean can you buy them in a graphic novel style of 6 comics in one book kinda thing.

I think you can get all of them in paperback, but they're out of print, kinda hard to find and expensive. In terms of hardcovers, there's Welcome Back Frank, plus 3 others, consisting of 12 issues. But Marvel never got around to publishing a 4th hardcover that would complete the run in hardcover format.

It's kind of unfortunate how the price for the Omnibus is right now. Hopefully Marvel will reprint it. I got mine when it originally came out on Amazon for 62 bucks.

It went OOP right about a month before I was able to buy it. Thankfully, I was able to score a new, sealed copy off eBay for $90 when it was going for over $120 at Amazon used.

I tried the amazon.jp, 3 months ago... and they are still delaying my order. I will wait another few months. It will cost me around 100 euros, new.

Omnibus would definitely be cool. It sucks how things go out of print like that, but such is the business I suppose.

I finally tracked down the last TPB I needed from Ennis' Marvel Knights run which was "Confederacy of Dunces." I never saw it in stores and I hadn't been able to find one for like 7 years since it came out in 2004, and I actively searched for it. Finally I randomly found one from a UK Ebay seller a couple weeks ago and my Ennis run is now complete.

Does anyone know why MAX is taking so long lately to put out TPBs? Or has it always been this way I just don't remember correctly? It seems like Bullseye started ages ago and the TPB still doesn't come out until November '11. That's sooooooooo long!

Meanwhile, In the Blood comes out this friggin week, but I have to wait til the end of the year for more MAX. What gives?

Bullseye suffered from heavy delays, if they release the trade now there will be an even longer gap between that and the Frank trade. It's a no-win situation....

Ah I wasn't aware of the delays. Man, that really sucks.

You want to talk about a great read? PunisherMAX #14 was another incredible issue by Aaron/Dillon. I'm loving every moment of the arc "Frank" right now.

Yeah - its good but we need Frank to start kicking ass again asap. I wonder how Aaron will motivate him again? What will be the key? Franks not going to go down with a whimper...

cant wait til frank puts a a whippin on big jesus

I'm not excited for Rucka's Punisher and I have no idea why.....

I know it's going to be good but I'm content with MAX right now and am looking forward more to Waid's DD.

In my eyes, MAX is the definitive world for Frank. 616 stuff is just a cool bonus on the side.

I feel the same about DeadpoolMAX except I could care less about the rest of his books.
