Age of Ultron The Official Scarlet Witch Thread - Part 1

I personally like it. I didn't think of Jean Grey to be honest, but hearing the power change description that makes sense. Wanda has always been one of the most powerful mutants, she's certainly more powerful than her father (I know he won't be her father in this film, just saying in the 616 she's more powerful).

Since there's no X-men in the MCU this change makes sense. I like the costume, it reminds me a bit of Wanda in X-men evolutions. I'll be curious if this is her "final" costume.

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon Joss mentioned that Wanda had both telekinetic powers,
which are revealed in the CA:TWS mid credit scene
and can "get inside your head", so there's telepathy involved as well. In terms of her power set, the MCU Scarlet Witch may be much closer to Jean Grey than her 616 counterpart.

Wanda's costume looks fine, though I think I may have bumped into her twin at a Madonna concert back in the mid 80's.

When he says "get inside your head" I think that might be closer to the nightmare-fuel power that Anderson had in Dredd. It would be pretty cool if she messes with Tony that way and he freaks out with PTSD again.

At some point, everyone has real similar powers as proven by lego Marvel where Jean Grey and Sue Storm basically have the same power set. :)

Having Hex powers is fairly complicated thing to show, so I don't mind them giving her telekinetic powers.

BTW, it's confirmed that Whedon directed the post credit scene, just as he did the bunker scene with Selvig, Fury and Loki, at the end of Thor.

Love the look. Wouldn't mind if her final costume, if there is one, is basically that but trimmed and polished.

As for 'hexes', I imagine telekinesis and telepathy could lend itself to the illusion of that. If I had such power, I'd probably put a bit of superstition into my act. I could say I 'hexed' your microwave to completely scorch anything you put into it, but the reality is I just saw into the machine with my mind's eye, and used my telekinesis to screw with the wiring so that it overdoes everything.

I could also 'hex' someone who hates something into loving said thing. But all that is is using telepathy to screw up their mental wiring.

So you're still being 'cursed', just not by voodoo and incantations. Just by someone being a *****e to you.

I kind of hope her powers aren't just telekinesis and telepathy, still. Part of me hopes they are basically Bioshock Infinite-style dimensional manipulation, which would allow for all these types of feats while having a more distinct aesthetic. However, its not the end of the world.

I absolutely love the look. I hope this is exactly what we get in the final film. I don't think it needs a single change.

I'd be happy with a Bioshock Infinite kind of approach to reality warping as well, or just straight up magic (which remains the most straightforward and simplest excuse for Wanda's power --- after all, Scarlet "Witch")....

...But trying to come up with an excuse for why a girl who is literally or figuratively a sorceress would have a brother who happens to be a super-speedster....that's always been a lot harder to explain, even in the comic-book world. *If* the MCU chooses to use psionics, and specifically TK/PK as the base of Wanda's powers, then it would be a little easier to explain QS's powerset as derived from same....i.e., an extreme form of telekinesis where Pietro is literally *willing* himself to move at superhuman speeds.

I dunno....just a thought. :word:

That's why, when people ask "which superpower [I'd] want" I always answer TK

With it, you could be super strong, super fast, fly, be nearly impervious, and break things apart with your mind down to a molecular level

It's definitely the most versatile single power

IGN's doing a countdown of the best powers, telekinesis should definitely be up there
knowing them though, Batman's "super-brain" or something will win

haha, I'd go as far as to say you could eventually learn to manipulate things on an atomic level, and if you can do that, then you could probably just ignite the air, thus giving you a form of pyrokinesis, excite electrons and atmospheric energy to get something close to electricity powers, and really the rest is up to your imagination.

Add in the idea that if you can extend your willpower to an object, then you could supposedly also extend your will to the area around you, in a passive way that gives you continuous awareness of everything around you, giving you a sixth sense of sorts. I guess sort of how Magneto can just sense metal, well like that, but instead you can just sense everything and anything you could possibly want to sense. Such as would be assassins...

It's kind of the all power if you take the base concept of being able to control things with your mind, and expand the applications far beyond the notion of "oohh I can make this chair levitate ooooooh". There's possibly a bunch of other applications that even I can't imagine, and I've thought long and hard about this before.

The casting sheet says that Scarlet Witch has telekinesis and spells for powers. Joss Whedon also has said that she is a witch and has magic.

I'm dying to see her future threads though.

Do you think shield has a really fabulous gay guy on staff who's job it is to give all the new kids who have just discovered they have powers new clothes.

What an amazing job!

I think the person who makes the suits is this person!

I hope she get's a real costume by the end of the film...

Same here. It kind of looks like a 90s X-Men outfit to me with these jackets, and rather generic. I want her to be in more red and look a bit more exotic - maybe a cape or something. I would've even liked something more like Jean Grey's X3 costume to be honest.

Then you gotta explain why she's wearing it.

Especially when she's NOT a superhero for the first part of the movie at least.

I'm fine with the above outfit as long as this is before she and her brother go over to the light.

Oh no, I'm sure marvel can do better than that.

Right! I'm coming up with a series with this plot in mind and I will call it..."dormammu wears prada".

Wanda Maximoff is the Scarlet Witch because she is wearing red. At what point will she be called Scarlet Witch? Who will call her that?

Probably people in her circle that have come into contact with her and possibly hold a disdain for her. Or more likely it could just be a codename Hydra gives her.

Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Wanda all pretty much have the same powers, only Wanda's actually manifest into physical stuff.
